Become a better wedge player with the Dave Pelz Pitching Method
Learn from the methods Dave Pelz taught me on a recent trip to The Grove, I demonstrate what I learnt and hopefully you can take something from it and implement it into your short game and become a more consistent and effective player.

Just found this older video and found it very good. I'm a big fan of Pelz's techniques. He used to be on the Golf Channel years ago. So, thanks for incorporating his lessons into your video.

This is more for pitching so from 30 yards upwards. I will be doing a chipping one soon, so stay tuned & glad it's helped

Yeah thought that it was because from 15-20 yards I was using a lofted club so obviously have to hit it harder. And great!

Nicely explained and demonstrated Matt and thanks for making the effort (all those years ago)! I've been working on integrating some of the Pelz magic into my game and the strength of my short game has totally transformed golf for me. No doubt my grip/wrists are not as free as they should be and your demo has really helped visualise where I should try to get to. Keep up the good work and cheers from Sydney, Aust - Dave

Colin Montgommerie says same thing. Tour players grip 1 or 2 , most players grip about 9. Great great video Matt, thanks so much. Bob Vokey says to trust the bounce, and highlights the best tip he heard from Lee Trevino, the left shoulder MUST keep moving

Well I had a go today and was so surprised! My distance control was a lot better and had a lot better feel. One thing I'm not sure is what would you said is roughly the minimum distance to do the method as today I found and less than 15 yards it was a little inconsistent.

Hi Matt thanks for this tip and your vids generally. Really been enjoying your course vlogs and your collusion with some of the other you tubers. Could you answer a question re divots please? Do all clubs take them? I know as a general rule the angle of attack shallows as the club gets longer so divots would get shallower. For the average player (I know some pros take one with a 3 iron) is there a club at which the divot stops. with my 6 iron i don't seem to be taking one. The ball seems to fly Okish but the contact seems harsh unlike a full pw which seems to compress and feel / buttery effortless. Kind regards Martin

Matt could you comment on flared left foot (forward foot) vs. pulling it straight back from the target line
@Mattfryergolf
@Mattfryergolf 7 жыл бұрын
+Anthony Cordisco if you have a flared lead foot it helps you with rotation, pulling it back can help but with the foot square on will limit it. Hope that helps

Matt, thanks for the work. The combination of the school footage and your video here is great! What about pitching below 30 yards? His full finish method works great for 30-100, but below that I find his book confusing. Any tips you can provide would be great!

Hi Matt , also tried this and my ball striking and distance was much better , i went on and tried this very light grip with my other clubs , even the driver and my ball striking was much better , can i use the light grip for my other clubs ? thanks
@Mattfryergolf
@Mattfryergolf 9 жыл бұрын
Yes you can, most amateurs tend to grip it to hard in general causing a lack of release in the club head. I'd say on a scale of 1 - 10 ( 1 soft 10 strangling it) try and grip it round 4 when making your full swing and 3 when you are pitching and chipping

good morning Matt, my name is Juan Reyes and I am planning a trip to the UK this autumn. I want to play a round ( which I would pay for) and take a lesson afterward. how soon should I book with you?

If you intended to play a pitch shot then I don't see why not. It's just a pitching method so with those clubs you'd hit a lower running type of shot
