This is basically what I did. Planted any ancient fruit I had to start with then finished filling the greenhouse with star fruit, then just kept on harvesting and replanting starfruit. As the ancient fruit got ripe for harvesting I'd run them through a seed maker and then plant those instead of star fruit until I'd got a green house full of ancient fruit. I've also created a second player and built a cabin. Both my house and cabin cellars are filled with casks alone, you can't place them anywhere else. Then I've got kegs in upstairs rooms in the house and in sheds to create the wine which gets transferred to the casks. I also make diamonds in 10 of my crystalariums and grow fairy rose plants to craft fairy dust which I throw on the casks when they hit gold and that makes them instantly iridium quality and ready. Half the entire aging process is spent going from gold to iridium. Definitely going to be doing more bee hives and lava eel fishing though. Awesome video Ezlilyy!

Also it feels more engaged than just waiting 2 months for result. Now, saturday is cheese day! I disagree on casks and aging wine. Nobody says you have to age ALL of it - just some. By the time you have your house fully upgraded and basement filled with casks you should be able to produce way more than 125 bottles (reasonable full capacity of the space allowing for easy access on PC, on console it's 118). So - age that portion and sell the rest - your wallet will be happy in the end. Unless you need those money right this moment - which by that time shouldn't be an issue - 400K will turn into 800K in those 2 seasons, and all without any additional work or investment. Essentially, you are getting another batch of starfruit wine - without a need to buy seeds, plant and grow, and then keg those fruits.
@zeeanon9830
@zeeanon9830 2 жыл бұрын
I agree! Once you get to the point in the game where you have the basement, ideally you should already be making a lot of wine. Aging one batch to double the profit is pretty low effort. Just set it and forget it! And since it's something you really only do once every two seasons (or once a season if you use fairy dust on gold quality), it's worth it to fill the entire basement up with casks instead of leaving paths to walk since you don't have to do it often.
@nkabanets
@nkabanets 2 жыл бұрын
@@zeeanon9830 I will not argue on filling whole basement vs leaving paths - it's just something every player has to decide for themselves. Though I can see the appeal - it's not something for me (for personal reasons), and may be harder to pull on console (idk for sure, just thinking). But either way - it's a big profit for very low effort even if you have to pick-axe your way to get all of them. So - go team casks!

I recently had the idea of filling sheds with statues of endless fortune. It may be super expensive to set up, but it should theoretically have the highest gold per tile per day out of anything in the game, averaging out at 500g per day (ignoring the gifts, which I'm too lazy to calculate). If you're feeling cheaty you can use the statue of perfection dupe which will average 1000-1500g/day (ignoring the coal). Or if you're feeling EXTRA cheaty you can dupe statues of endless perfection in multiplayer for a flat 2k/day.

My wine technique is fill my entire green house with acient fruit, next I fullfy a Big Shed with Kegs, and the basement with Cask, one of the batches of wine goes for aging, the other 7 batches are sold. That way I have a much bigger income from the wine every 2 month while I have already made Big money with the regular wine. I do it this way bcs i'm too lazy to replant and, just as Stardew NPC's I'm a little too much biased with Iridium quality. It's a layout that takes a while to build but once it's ready you just have to remember the Day of the week, harvest, empty and refill the Kegs and see the money grow. In addition, while Starfruit has to be rebuy/planted and grown in 13 days, acient is ready every week, I think in the profit it's the same for the two wines if we consider the gap of rebuying and time.

I always go for ancient fruit. My aim on any new farm is to have an ancient fruit seed before I unlock the greenhouse. (I always do the CC route rather than Joja so this is in mid-late fall year 1 usuually). By end of year 2, my goal is to have enough for my main farm layout (which is 960 farming spots) planted with deluxe speed gro and ancient fruit with the green house (116 spaces) already full of ancient fruit. Then I spend year 3-4 building up my 7 large sheds with barrels (137 each) and selling the wine every week and refilling with that weeks' harvest. That ends up being over 800 ancient fruit wine every week (even with 7 weeks no ancient fruit from main farm and saving seeds for next year) for a total of over 1.8 million every week.

I am curious about how the various animals work out on annual basis. Pigs in their top days make a lot of money, definitely. (Oh, but.. sell truffle or make oil?) But not in winter, not when it rains. So that's a lot of days with zero productivity! Off the top of my head, the next best in terms of daily income would be cheese from cows. That keeps chugging along every day all year round. It makes me wonder if maybe on a full year cows might actually still be in the competition.

You can hoard mixed seeds throughout the year, then farm fiber seeds in winter so you can have a good stock of grass starters to plant without having to buy them
@Illustrioustaco
@Illustrioustaco 2 жыл бұрын
Consider giving your animals a larger pen to graze. Put down one lightning rod with grass for each animal if you can craft that many. Fences work the same but don't have the free batteries occasionally. You can use the lightning rods as fences even, and put floor tiles (pathing) on the other side to keep the grass where you want it. Making your own grass starters is more cost effective, and if you have grass in other parts of your farm for decor or just because it's growing, consider turning your animals lose after doing the chores they get in the way of. With the lightning rods as fences you'll have to pick them up once a year or so to replace the grass under them. In most of my farms I give a generous amount of space to the animals and keep several stacks of hay in boxes. (Like stacks of 999...) that I tend to build up obsessively for free by pulling the hay out of hoppers early on every time I cut grass. You can fill up ten silos... or you can have one silo that you fill up, empty from the barn or coop and fill again. If you have max barn and coop you can use a cherry bomb(or any bomb really, they won't disturb the animals) to clear the hay on the feed bar so you can empty the hopper. I try to empty the silo on the last day of fall when in cutting the grass for feed for winter. I'll scythe grass until I stop gathering hay, empty hopper then scythe more. I can easily get around 300 to 500 hay this way from all around my farm (scything the normally decorative areas for example or the loose grass around the awkward spots) . A few well placed starters at the beginning of spring can go a long way after growing most of the year.

3 hops plants (inside in planters) and 6 kegs will earn you enough per day from pale ale to buy the hay to feed 24 animals year round (I have 5 silos). Once you have deluxe retaining soil you no longer have to water them. Eventually you'll be making enough money that buying grass starter to just spam in your pens every time they've eaten it all just won't seem like that big a deal. The only way I've seen it work with just the grass starter though is if you use a 3 pen system and rotate the animals so 2 pens are always regrowing the grass. The problem is that it takes quite a bit of space.

On my first farm, I have the clock, all the teleporters, and anything else I might want. And I have many millions in cash, with nothing left to spend it on. Mostly, I made my money with ancient fruit in the greenhouse, and enough kegs to process it into wine. I also had fruit trees in the greenhouse which kept my preserve jars busy. Of course I had all the regular stuff going on, like aged cheese, other animal products, and I had a few pigs. I never did go overboard with them though. I think I had four pigs. Crops of course, but the ancient fruit was the big one. I made over 2 million with them alone each season.

It may be a bit of an exploit, but I like to have 3 other farmhouses for me, myself, and I. Just start split screen and use an extra controller and you can collect 4x the quest rewards, 4x the museum rewards, 4x the wine can be aged at once, and you have plenty of indoor space for machines. So they're not taking up precious farm space, but also not spread so far across the valley that it's too inconvenient. Plant all the fruit trees you want in your greenhouse, then once they're fully grown, fill the space between them with tea bushes in garden pots. Ancient fruits are really good, but not quite as good if you have to wait a full season for them to grow every year. Keep them in your greenhouse and on ginger island until you have plenty of seeds, and use your farm space for ingredients and just enough starfruits to fill your cellar twice. And if you are aging wine, I definitely suggest placing down casks and filling them as you back out of your cellar, you wont be needing to walk through there for a while anyway and you can fit 64 more bottles of wine at a time. One random quality of life thing is if you have a shed or other building that you are using a lot of processing machines in, put one of the machines just outside and fill it at the same time as the others and it will tell you at a glance when all the other machines are done

I like ancient fruit because you only need the first investment, no extra-cost or nothing, with pigs you need to pay Marnie, with Starfruit unless you use seed-makers like a mad-lad, you need to replant them and stuff, the seeds are also pretty expensive. The cool thing I saw in this video was banana-jelly, that was pretty cool, not gonna lie! But the same thing is with ancient fruit and barrels, a barrel needs 7 days to make wine, and ancient fruits are ready to harvest every 7 days, the only other thing I'd do is change to starfruit to have some of it to age.

Out of the money making methods listed, the one that I kinda avoid till later game is the barn(s) full of pigs, during winter and rain/stormy days they make no money, I will admit that after a year they have paid for themselves and then some, but the lack of money making during at minimum 1/4th of the year puts me off a bit. The iridium starfruit wine is more of a low work high yield one, sure it's 2 months, but the basement only needs to be filled 2 times yearly, and no I am not saying to age all the wine, once the basement is full all excess wine made from the harvests should be thrown straight in the bin, if one is lucky by the second to third year they will have enough ancient fruit to just switch to that, a little less gold but a lot less effort. The only downside to the honey operation is that hives take 8 coal each to make, making it a quite expensive thing to start, it is for sure something that should only be done in that space on ginger island due to the fact that the only honey worth that level of effort is fairy rose honey, I will say this though, if someone is looking to make lots of farm warp totems, keeping some hives in that space down by the sping onion spot for purely wild honey is the most cost effective solution. I would like to make an honorable mention to the tree spaces in the greenhouse, a efficient tree layout can fit 18 fruit trees of any type for year round harvesting as well as ginger island. I will jump into the defence of the tiger slime egg, keeping tiger slimes in an outdoor pin with 2-3 layers of fencing and going in once daily to get the slimes to breed can fetch a decent chance at a good number of Tiger slime eggs (provided that day of unaliving slimes is a good or max luck day, the player harvesting wears a burglar/luck ring and a slime charmer/luck ring, and eats both a magic rock candy and consumes a seasoned ginger ale as tiger slime eggs are a 1% drop). However, if a player was looking for easier slime eggs to obtain, the other 4 eggs are much easier to obtain, it is more of a once a week passive income with a slime hutch.

@Mister Stoo I tend to spend a lot of time mantaining the grass parts of my farm even early game and usually have a ton of hay stored in a chest, so feeding them isn't a problem, but the full season's lack of production is the biggest turnoff for me regarding the pigs

Can we just clarify that when you say non-aged wines are better, you just mean don't save up for them. Like you should always be aging wines for the increased value for all your casks, but it is inefficient to keep them in the chest and wait to age them.

I feel like every stardew valley youtuber never mentions this important fact about truffle farming. Truffles are considered a foraging item meaning if you have the iridium foraging skill every truffle you pick will be iridium quality and sells for more than the base price of truffle oil. just googled how much they sell for at iridium quality, a base truffle sells for 625g an iridium truffle sells for 1250g. base truffle oil sells only for 1065g with artisan it goes up to 1491g, that's only a 241g gold difference between iridium truffles and artisan truffle oil.
@nkabanets
@nkabanets 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, with artisan it's a small difference in truffle oil vs truffle price- but it's a difference! And since you would have artisan anyway - because that's just better if you aren't going completely with only animals and no plants - why not turning that extra profit? It doesn't take long to refill you oil presses once per day - or even twice (depending on how many pigs and machines you have), and numbers adds up...
@magapiff1
@magapiff1 2 жыл бұрын
@@nkabanets unless you are going for a themed playthrough 241 extra gold per truffle wouldn't be worth the amount of time/effort/space it would take to make a large scale truffle oil production, if you really need the extra gold you could just make a flowerpot greenhouse full of hops for daily gold or sweet gem barries for far more profit (and its surprisingly easy to do) making truffle oil to sell is kinda like making mead from tulip honey yea your making a profit but not a justifiable profit
@nkabanets
@nkabanets 2 жыл бұрын
@@magapiff1 With 10 pigs I have in a barn (which I have anyway - with a cow and a goat) - and all 10 at full hearts - in fall they turn out around 20-25 truffles a day. So that 241 turns into about 5K daily if it's not raining. Oil makers are fitted in a barn too, so I can refill them while petting my animals. Greenhouse is better used for starfruit or ancient fruit, and kegs better used for wine vs pale ale, otherwise its extra work each day and your time in the game is limited. Sweet gem berries are valuable but iirk DF had an episode on that - possible but takes too much time and effort (again). I was talking about something that can be done without going out of your way after setting it up once. But in the end everybody is free to play any way they want - there is no right or wrong path (unless you are going to skull caverns with just rusty sword and no food). I just think that for new people it's better to know their options. P.S. For a themed playthrough - I assume that's pigs only - I would actually go with just selling truffles as is. When you have more than 1 barn full of piggies that difference in price is too low to warrant amount of effort and investment into setting it all up, alone with time needed to run the whole oil operation. Also, in this scenario I would go with rancher and not artisan - for getting animals to full hearts faster.

I make way more Starfruit wine in a year than I have casks for. What I do is just save 240 bottles of wine to age until the next summer (I got 120 casks) and sell the rest as is. It would be nice to age all of it, but I simply end up making too much wine for that. I do wine, diamonds and truffle oil for money. Looking to start with fairy rose honey, but I have yet to figure out a layout I'm happy with. Ended up with something nice using the Stardew Valley planner buuut then I hopped into the game and realized how many bushes I have on my ginger island farm that I can't remove.

I find the casks are my biggest money maker. While I agree the time investment is massive, it's also passive income because the value increases exponentially without you doing anything at all. I have crammed in as many casks as I can, with one row of eight kegs, which I put ancient fruit in. They take exactly a week to grow, exactly a week to become wine, and I have rows of eight casks which I rotate through to keep the weekly routine going. I also age gold-star cheese to iridium cheese in casks around the outer edge, which is totally worthwhile in my opinion. I do also make a ton of wine beyond what I age in the casks, which I just sell directly. I planted mixed seeds on ginger island and ended up with a sea of pineapple plants, which surprisingly rival ancient fruit for value, so I make both ancient fruit wine and pineapple wine. Lots of pineapple jelly, too. (I also have more blueberries than I know what to do with! 😂)

I do a Special Reserve type deal with wine by aging however much I can put in my cellar all the way and selling what I produce in that time. It's just higher quality wine, it's true, but it's a significant boost in income a couple times a year when everything aligns just right. I prefer Ancient Fruit Wine after getting it down to a science, I take care to get the Ancient Fruit to be ready for harvest on Sunday, do so, and put as much of the day's harvest in kegs to tun into wine as I have kegs to make wine. The next Sunday, harvest Ancient Fruit, take Ancient Fruit Wine from kegs, put Ancient Fruit into kegs, put Ancient Fruit Wine into casks in the cellar, sell the rest, repeat next week but sell all of the Ancient Fruit Wine instead. Then, two seasons later, gather Iridium quality Ancient Fruit Wine, start another batch aging, and sell. I also use a mod to drastically increase the size of the greenhouse and put many trees and different regrowing crops in it. From vanilla, I'm talking Ancient Fruit, strawberries, coffee beans, blueberries, corn, hot peppers, wheat, and cranberries, and then through mods, various other non-canon regrowing crops and Star Fruit thanks to another mod that makes certain crops regrow or grow in additional seasons. Outside the greenhouse, I focus my crop growing attention on Ancient Fruit and whatever regrows that is in season, which includes wheat all year thanks to the regrowth and perennial crop mod, honey, and whatever random ideas I get. Don't tend to keep animals because while pigs are profitable, it eats up time having to pet them and pick up truffles when I already have a huge number of crops to deal with. Fish ponds, however, fish ponds I like. I also have a cheat mod that makes Ancient Fruit stay alive through winter. Doesn't make them grow in winter, their stalks just stay up and begin producing again in spring without having to make and replant seeds. Getting Ancient Fruit in the winter is what the greenhouse and Ginger Island farm are for.

i don't believe your calculations are taking into account the value starfruit wine already has. here's how i calculate the value added for each aging process. [({quality}wine price) - (unaged wine price)]/(number of days it takes to age to {quality}) this will show you the average added value of gold *per day* which is what i assume is important to you. silver: [(3,963) - (3,150)]/(14) = 58 gold per day gold: [(4,725) - (3,150)]/(28) = 56.25 iridium: [(6,300) - (3,150)]/(56) = 56.25 as you can see, if you really want to be maximising yield then you would harvest at 2 weeks in, at silver quality. however, i don't do it because i don't think it's worth it. i fill up my whole cellar, and it takes me half a day to hoe everything out and put the wine back in the casks. 2g per day for all 189 casks is small beans. otherwise, there's no difference between the money per day you gain from harvesting at gold vs at iridium. if you sold the unaged starfruit wine you'd have put in the casks + iridium quality wine, you'd end up with the same amt of money as if you aged both to gold quality.

That time you spend harvesting Hops and making Ale every day could be spent fishing, or mining for iridium/radioactive ore, or doing quests etc. It's great on a small scale where you can easily squeeze it into a day's work, but at the larger scales required for big money it's not very practical
