Become a Patient Care Technician

Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) work alongside nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide direct patient care in a hospital setting. Students are trained to perform clinical skills such as monitoring and recording vital signs, assisting with mobility and activities of daily living, basic respiratory care, obtaining specimens, heat and cold applications, pre- and post-operative care and other tasks related to direct patient care.
SSM Health is seeking qualified individuals who want to attend training to work as a part-time Clinical Partner. This 6-week accelerated training program combines classroom instruction with clinical training. The training satisfies the requirements of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services for Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP).

Same as CNA?

Similar but not exactly. PCTs more often work in acute care like hospitals while CNAs more often work long term care like nursing homes or rehab. Although CNAs can also work in hospitals and PCTs training actually builds onto what CNAs do plus more CNAs require state licensure while PCTs technically only really require in house training at a hospital you don't always need a license at all to become a PCT while you need a license for CNA unless you settle with just a NA or RA.
