This is the best online pistol training I've ever seen. I feel like I need to send this guy some money for this video!

We owe this guy at least 20 bucks for this. Watching him critique those trainees targets was like watching a master work. At a seconds glance he knew everything that was happening between their hands. WTF. No one else on youtube does this. Man's a professional.

Very Interesting take aways - Grip: 2. Look for the crease in the web of your hand 3. Primary Hand - only press front to back and as firm as a handshake that I want the job 4. Support Hand - Squeeze as hard as possible (pistol shaking from squeezing too hard with support hand is a myth) 5. You can dry fire w/o a pistol to practice your grip 6. Dry fire of 10-15 minutes a day will take you a long way 7. Have a dry fire grip that is the same as your live fire grip (results will tell you) 8. Support hand Index finger to dominant hand middle finger contact. 9. Once you have your grip, press the back to crush the pistol. 10. Back of your palms need to meet up. 11. Gun should not move around while you are shooting. Drills: 1. Take your time to group a tight group (using what you learned in grip technique). 2. Accuracy Engagement of repeated shots with single focus on target. Trigger: 1. The travel is important not the weight. 2. Travel less to the wall of the trigger. 3. After the first shot, stay connected to the trigger shoe.

I can’t tell you how timely this video is. Not just practical skills he is teaching but also the encouragement. I carry firearms to defend my family and community, it is the last thing I want to fail at. Grateful for this information.

Please don’t take this wrong, but “F” the community. They don’t care about you, they’re the ones voting for gun control and wokeness. Just worry about your wife n kids. It sounds hippocratic of my to say that, being that I’m a first responder. But I’m not at work. Ohhh and I do live behind enemy lines. People’s republic of Kommiefornia.

So glad to hear the focus of his dry fire theory is 20% on trigger pull: you really only get the timing, no recoil. Draw & visual focus, then transitions are majority of my practice.

Thanks Jim. Started watching you when you were in rifles, I was a pistol guy then. Pistol teaches great trigger action IF you train wisely, it transfers nicely to precision rifle. This guy is smart. "Advanced shooters want to practice...BASICS." I got a lot out of Scott Jedlinski's RDS class, the basics from that class similar to what this guy is teaching. Support hand power, firing hand precise control and fairly relaxed. I asked Jedi to show me his hand pressure distribution, he did this on my outstretched hand. Very illuminating to see how light the firing hand grip.

Dude, much respect here . Competition shooting is way different than being robbed at gunpoint . If somebody was to ever rob you at gunpoint, you were carrying at a 4 o’clock position . You realize you’re only going to shoot with one hand you’re lucky if you’re gonna get two shots off and you will probably never shoot more than a cars length… it’s just the facts . Again, no disrespect. If you can put two hands on the gun, you’re gonna shoot it better it’s a handgun it’s not a 22. , there is going to be recoil . Personally, that’s why I feel every home defense weapon should be an AR or a shotgun . Just my opinion. Thank you for the video you shared is valuable information. . Every circumstances is different. 👍

Just came home from the range today and I'm in a place where I can understand every point and am starting to perceive these things naturally. The left index to middle right is something i was working on for weeks but focusing on it /explaining it in a different way in my mind. Very little about it intuitive so its interesting to hear/comprehend the physics involved. Also, teach in TEXAS!!!!!!

Wow, I've already seen an improvement! I thought squeezing the junk with my dominant hand was my issue but it's the reverse. My sight alignment instantly settled down, trigger squeezing I saw VERY little movement on the front sight. Incredible amount of info in 25 minutes and I'm seeing good results dry firing. I just went to the range yesterday and had the mental disengagement that he talked about and my groups were all over the place. I was still hitting the target fine, but in my head I'm thinking if I'm wild here, in a competition I'm gonna miss. Incredibly helpful lesson and the instructor explained everything so clearly as to what the shot groups meant and corrective actions to take. Now I gotta wait for the next range day but boy I'm going to dry fire like crazy!

When I was a kid I shot a bow. Mom was very anti gun so I never had any training on guns. When I went into the army in the 80s, they taught me how to shoot an M16. They stressed the slow squeeze of the trigger. The made us practice dry fire with a quarter on the end of the barrel. If it fell, you jerked the trigger. I bought a 9mm a few years ago. Practiced at a range a couple of times. Got my license to carry and in the class the instructor was so impressed with my shooting he showed the class saying 'this is what your goal should be'. A couple months later I went to a farm range with some oath keepers as a perspective member. They were shooting at a line of 10 inch steal targets with their riffles at 40 yards. I asked if I could try it with my 9mm. My goal for that day was working on my speed. I hit 9 of the 10 targets with a mag change (only allowed 5 round per mag) in 14 seconds. They said I hit all of them and they were impressed. I was pretty sure I missed one. Anyway, not sure how good that is, but pretty sure it's good enough for self defense and I did it all without any training on a handgun. So it must be the training on proper tigger control I did 35 years ago. The other tip I learned on my own is keep the wrist stiff and just rotate your arms to change your aim. Once you got the sights lined up, no need to change your wrists and it's easy to zero in on your next target. No need for red dots.
@jimmybrodriguez10 ай бұрын
What about when you’re shooting on the move or moving laterally or diagonally?
@FranklinGray10 ай бұрын
@@jimmybrodriguez If your upper body doesn't have proper form, you aren't going to hit anything. Your legs and lower body can do whatever but the upper body has to be in good form and stable. That takes a ton of practice. Most people will not hit anything on the run unless they are 10 feet away. Bend those elbows (110 degrees), lock those wrist. Absorb the shock with your elbows, not the wrist. I used to shoot a 50 cal desert eagle that way. It works and give you best target acquiring and you don't tire out quickly either. Once you get used to it, you will not have to aim...just get the gun pointed in the direction and the sights are already lined up.

@FranklinGray10 ай бұрын
One thing I'm not a fan of is this new stance they do. I shoot a hand gun like a shoot a rifle. Stand shoulder length apart facing 45 degrees away from your target and rotate your shoulders a little towards the target. DO NOT lock your elbows. When you are changing targets you want your elbows, shoulders and hips to make the changes, not your wrists that has your sights lined up. This not only allows quick movement from one target to the next, but also takes the tension out of the body. Locking elbows makes everything tense and solid with no shock absorption. Locking the elbows also takes away the strength to control recoil. My stance comes from martial arts and is designed to give you stabilization and is very natural. This standing straight in front of the target and leaning forward a bit with arms locked out is not natural and therefore hard to master.

After my time in the army my skills with a rifle fired using standard peep sights (M16 A-1's) were ESTABLISHED! As a Cavalry Scout the closest I came to the pistol usage was to clean the Tankers 45's in the arms room. Many years later I became an armed security guard (poverty sucks) and my father provided me with a 1958 Belgian made Browning Hi-Power. After adjusting the extractor pin by bending it, It worked AMAZING for a weapon that obviously had thousands of rounds fired thru it. I put a 9 inch pie plate at about thirty yards away at the range figuring that to be the maximum range as a security guard in an urban environment and started putting rounds at or near the center of that plate. GOOD BUT .... figuring that a shooting event was going to be of an OHSHITTHEYARESHOOTINGATME ... I put up a fresh plate ... put my weapon in it's holster WHIPPED IT OUT AND MAG-DUMPED THE 12 ROUNG MAG .... All rounds on that plate EVERYDAMNEDONEOFTHEM. Confidence in that weapon was absolute!!! Years later doing a periodic requalifying with it I heard ARROGANT instructors ask how many of us had pistols over ?? years old. I raised my hand with several others, and they said we probably would all NEED some "alibi fires" because of mis-fires as we had to use only 50 rounds shot to qualify with ... in my case ahhhhhhh BS I had 50 rounds in the mags and that is ALL I needed, AND I qualified with one of the BEST scores that day! I TOOK GREAT PLEASURE IN TELLING THEM I TRUSTED THAT FIREARM FAR FAR MORE THAN THEIR EXPERIENCE AS RANGE INSTRUCTORS!!! THENNNNNN I finished off that paper target with an ancient Montgomery Wards 12ga (Mossberg 500) with even older tactical ammo that needed to be shot up AND IT ROCKED ROCKED ROCKED WITHOUT A SINGLE MISFIRE!!!!! STILL HAVE BOTH WEAPONS AND STILL HAVE FULL CONFIDANCE IN BOTH WEAPONS. I have much more modern firearms now but that HI-Power is within easy reach of my desk in my office to this day! Doing security work is now a distant memory but the ENTIRE without Christ part of the universe that wants to take it from me will have need to ask themselves "HOW BAD DO I WANT IT!!!" At my age I am VERY COMFORTABLE ending in something other than a bed but FULLY TRUST GOD in ALL THINGS without fear!!! GOD BLESS TO THOSE WHO WILL HIM and ultimate regret to those who won't. uhhh did someone say testify??? Mr Roddriguez I am still learning to this day enjoy even the most "boring" parts of the learning experience and will shut up now and watch the rest of your video! SUBSCRIBED!
