Those “rubber bands” are called o-rings & they’re there to keep from scratching the side of your weapon when your installing pins close to a finished surface (such the retaining pin for a bolt catch.)

Looks pretty but Wire Gear tolerance is garbage. They call it Gunsmithing and get a ridiculous price but you need a quality tool when dealing with the small mechanical world
