If you are in high-school, I would highly recommend you take pure maths and science. Psychology is a form of science. There is also something about taking the sciences in high-school that primes your brain for the intellectually rigorous journey of psychology by understanding basic anatomy, genetics and physiology. There is also a module in 3rd year that is stats heavy, and having done probability and calculus in GRD 12 primes your mind so that these concepts aren't too foreign. Might not be mandatory, but science will give you a head-start. My other un-porpular opinion is, the journey to becoming a medical doctor is easier than becoming a qualified psychologist.
