My employer paid for my certification training through MedCerts called Healthcare Administration Professional Certificate. I passed the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant certification exam. Next month, I take AAPC's Medical Biller & Coder certification exam, and then the last certification exam will be on Medical Records. I love your videos! Very informative. Thank you.

I am totally self-taught. I had to learn everything on the job with minimal training. To say it was tough is an understatement. If I could go back and do anything differently, it would be to go back and take a coding and billing crash course just to help equip myself better for what I was doing every day on the job.

Thanks for sharing your story! I’m going to start telling people to go the route you took when it comes to becoming a medical coder. I took the more expensive route haha. I didn’t know how to go about becoming one though, so I asked a success coach at my local community college and the next thing I know I’m getting an associates degree for it. I did get scholarships every semester so that helped.

Good advice about the desk reference book! I just failed my exam got a 62% but I’m happy still bcz I’m self taught in a way did my careerstep program! But i get the concepts and my weak points are e/m, medicine and coding injury sequencing.

Hi Shamyra ! I want to start studying for certification, but it’s almost the end of the year. I don’t want to buy a whole bunch of 2024 material , when I’d need 2025 . What should I do ?

Hi. Which practice exams did you purchase from AAPC? I noticed that they have two sets (A,B,C & D,E,F). However, they are about $400 for both. I can't afford that. I was wondering if one version would be enough, based on your experience.

I’m in a free program for this type of coding and I’m 5 out of 8 months in thinking what’s the point I still have to pay for everything myself anyways and they aren’t even focused teachers be sloppy etc and the rules and attendance policy is so strict they threaten to kick us all out every other day. I do feel like I know enough it enough to take it. I don’t think I’ll just quit the program but if I get kicked out I won’t be upset either 😂

Hello Shamyra 😀 I have a question 🙋🏾‍♀️ 😊for the deak reference Manuel is it just for specialist ? or is it one specific for the CPC exam to study with ? I see yours is for gyno and wanted to know . Thanks 🙏🏾
@ShamyraC
@ShamyraC 4 ай бұрын
Hey Neisha! The desk reference is for all specialities the book that I showed a screenshot of would be great for CPC study. The physical book that I had in the video was for ob/gyn specialty because that’s what I code. I don’t recommend for CPC because it only focuses on one specialty. 😊
