Dr. Richard Shuster (drrichardshuster.com) is a clinical psychologist with specialties in forensic and neuropsychology. He launched “The Daily Helping” podcast (thedailyhelping.com) to challenge people to commit acts of kindness for strangers. Recognition for his podcast enabled him to create a nonprofit for children called Every Kid Rocks, as well as create a psychological assessment company that empowers individuals, helps veterans with trauma, and offers the world’s first tool in the addiction and recovery space to help people stay sober by focusing on their strengths. In his talk, Dr. Shuster unpacks his journey after a near-fatal car accident that broke his spine and nearly tore every ligament in his neck. Surviving helped him discover his true purpose - helping others. He focuses on the neuroscience of altruism and how we can shift away from a society focused on selfies to the neurological benefits of helping others. Dr. Richard Shuster is a clinical psychologist, keynote speaker, CEO of Your Success Insights, and the host of The Daily Helping with Dr. Richard Shuster: Food for the Brain, Knowledge from the experts, Tools to Win at Life which is regularly downloaded in over 150 countries. His mission is to help people become the best versions of themselves and as a result, make the world a better place.
A sought after media expert, Dr. Shuster’s clinical expertise and podcast have been featured in such publications as The Huffington Post, NBCNews.com, Glassdoor.com, Men’s Health, Cosmopolitan, and others. He is also the president of Every Kid Rocks, Inc., a 501c3 which helps schools provide therapy services to children everywhere. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
