I went back to school at the age of 26 after I failed my matric 5 times but the funny part I started tutoring school teaching from grade 6 to 12, and parents would call me and thank me ukuthi "My daughter/son came with B or D' but I don't have any grade 12 , so I met a friend of mine who also failed his matric but his mom was like here is the money go and register too you can do it so I started level 2-4 at college of cape town while I was doing that I was tutoring other students and then I applied for Office Management and Technology,I applied for pgce but they took me at tvet advance due to my academic history,now I'm finishing up my honors, I enrolled for Master's. TRUST ME DREAMS DO COME TRUE YOU MUST HAVE PASSION EVERYTHING WILL FOLLOW namhlanje I'm a happy soul I will help others too like I was helped. I'm a college product,now i'm a TVET Qualified Lecture.

This encouraged me cause sometimes I feel devastated cause am 25 and still on school I went to school at 24 cause I didn't afford all this year even now am struggling but I know I will be able to finish my studies dreams come true I hope I will be able to teach in tvet

you will reach it trust me cos I done did it yes it wasn't easy and especially if the is no moral support even financial but tru having hope and faith everything falls into places

Adv Diploma in TVET depends, the current ones have a provision for FET(high schools) and FET (college)

Hi, with PGCE you can also do your Practicals at a TVET college. A lot of my colleagues did that.

Hi, this depends on the phase you are being trained for, in my case it had to be a high school grade 10-12 not a college. Your teaching prac lecturer should give an indication on this.

I’m based in Cape Town and I have researched that there is only a handful TVet colleges around

Compared to other cities it’s quite a lot, College of Cape Town, Northlink, West Coast, Boland, False Bay… they all have different campuses as-well. Then there’s South Cape which covers other parts of the province.

You have N6 certificate or N diploma? If you have the N diploma you can check stadia, CPUT, TUT, NMU they offer adv dip in tvet teaching

Hey sis, isnt it that you can also teach in a vocational high school with the advanced diploma?..I did LLB and have been accepted at Stadio for the advanced diploma but I'm not clear on whether I have to look for WIL only at TVET colleges or I can also go to schools?

Hi it will have to be a TVET not a school.

You can also do your teaching practice at Technical High Schools, I also did my practicals at a high school.

can one become a lecturer at a Tvet college without acquiring neither of those but having a level 4 in Engineering specifically & being an expert in a particular trade?

No you must have those, you can be a facilitator though not a lecturer

Facilitators are needed in occupational programmes which are your learner-ships and apprenticeships. Colleges usually appoint their own graduates that obviously have experience in their fields. But you can check on their websites vacancies are usually advertised

Hi you are already a qualified teacher no need at all.

So you saying I can teach at TVET with an intimediate phase specialized qualification? That's confusing though because I can't teach high school with that qualification but it will allow me to teach TVET?

@@phomolooctavia5431 what I’m saying is that you are a qualified teacher already, in programmes such as early childhood development or education and training you can lecture. However you may not teach anything not related to your teaching methods but what you can do is to enrol to add teaching methods for FET phase so that you are not limited to just intermediate. Enquire at any university about that….

You need a professional teaching qualification to be registered with South African Council of Educators and you will be paid less that those with a teaching qualification

Hi there I know of private institutions offering that degree. At colleges it would be a learnership, I’m not sure if there’s a diploma for that as yet.

This will depend on the modules completed in your final year. There’s quite a number of programmes offered by TVT you might fit in somewhere. Rather consult with any institution offering the the course they will know which subjects you can teach. I know of a legal secretary course only..

This video was so helpful. I have my qualification and was a teaching assistant for some time and enjoyed the classroom. What would you advice someone who is not sure if they want to teach in high schools or colleges to do? A PGCE/ TVET Diploma or both? Being a uni lecturer is such a long and costly process🌷

Hey, you can get away with a PGCE in that case, however now with the introduction of TVT teaching dip those would be given preference…

@@tshepoletsholo4050 the curriculum is TVET specific for TVET lecturers. You may try your luck with schools perhaps but cannot promise anything

Thank you so much for your videos, I have an undergraduate diploma in business management and I am student towards an advanced diploma in tvt. I'd like to ask if it is easy to secure a job in the tvet space without any form of industry experience. Im still 22 I've never had any formal work before. TIA😊

Hi Ton, some people struggle some don’t. I was one of the lucky ones that secured a job easily than others. I was the same age as well no experience at all. My advice, will be to build good relations with the academic managers when you go for your practicals. Having a good network in the space helps a lot because people can recommend you whenever they are looking for a lecturer for contract post , part time or substitute. Once you are in more opportunities come including permanency.

Hi yes you can however the ideal lecturer is someone with an undergraduate qualification (not a BEd) with a PGCE or advanced dip in TVET teaching

As far as I know yes you need a trade test. To be a lecturer you must have completed you N diploma then study the advanced diploma in TVET teaching that will qualify you as a professional TVET lecturer
