Hey, yes a lot of people tend to not get accepted in BCom due to Maths, but you can still pursue the CA(SA) qualification even though you have a Diploma. Thank you so much for watching 😊.

Hey Cwengile thank you very much for explaining this to us it means alot . I also have a similar problem my maths was not good enough so I ended up studying Bcom in Accounting that is under SAIPA ...... do you think it is possible for me to become a Charted Accountant with the SAIPA degree

Hey Thabile, I think you need to contact Saica and ask them if your BCom Accounting is accredited. If it is then you may be eligible to do CTA however if its not then you may have to do the Advance Diploma (Bridging) so that you may be able to register for CTA. Al the best to your journey😊

Just for clarification you’re saying if I take a bachelors degree in accounting from a non accredited SAICA institution, I can take a bridging course at unisa which would allow me to do my PGDip ?

Hi Deax, so if you have a Bcom General Accounting, that degree is not saica accredited. So that means you have to do your Advance Diploma which is the Bridging to your PGDA. After you are done with your Advance at the required time period then you will be able to apply for CTA2(PGDA). I hope this answers you.

I’m in grade 12 and I qualify for diploma in accountancy, I wanna know , can I get accepted to do Bcom after doing my diploma? And if yes , I’m which varsities and do all of them allow you to start 2nd year in bcom or do they want you to start from 1st year? 😢

Hey Nandi, at NMU they used to allow you to start in second year but I I not 100% sure if they are still doing it. So please contact the accounting department and enquire about it. All the best in your journey 😊

Hi sis. I hope you're well. I got accepted for idiploma in accountancy at CPUT. However i emailed them asking if their diploma is accredited by SAICA but they responded saying that it's not . Instead it is recognized by SAICA and SAIBA and SAIT. Is it still okay?

Hi Khwezi thank you so much for watching 😊 . With regards to your diploma please check with the other universities as well because you will need to do a Bridging course so maybe ask unisa if you will be eligible to register for the Advance Diploma , the Bridging course with the diploma that you doing and if you are then you are okay. Hey Siphesihle. If you are referring to the BCom Accounting that is recognized by SAICA then the minimum number of years will be 7 years. 3 years for BCom, 1 year Post Grad and 3 years articles with 2 board exams.

Complete the BCom but take accountanting or financial accountanting as your major ,then once you've completed your BCom do a bridging course that's accredited by CA(SA), once you pass the bridging course you can apply for your CTA

Hi Sisi. I just wanna understand when it comes to Unisa when I have to go the diploma route for whatsoever reason. you saying we must call Unisa and ask if the diploma is accredited( accredited with who?) and to that should it be a specific university /college for you to do that diploma

Hey Ntsoaki thank you so much for watching 😊. So basically you will ask them if it's SAICA accredited meaning that if you do the diploma you will be able to go straight to Advance Diploma and will be able to pursue your CA(SA) journey. Most of the people study with colleges and they find out at the end that their diploma is not accredited. However with UNISA their qualifications are recognized by SAICA so if you do them there , then you don't have to worry. Just make sure that you choose the right qualification that will ensure that after you are done with it, you will go straight to Advance Diploma.

No need to call, all Unisa Accounting courses ( both diploma and degrees)are SAICA accredited.

Hey Precious thank you so much for watching. If the Diploma is not accredited and you want to take option 1, then Unisa won't accept you for the Advance Diploma in Accounting Science and you may end up having to start a new qualification at the university. So us very crucial for you to know whether your Diploma is accredited or not.
