Vermont's chonkiness and the grandpa-levels of reload makes it really difficult to use the ship well when you're accustomed with the speed demon that is Yamato (for a BB at least) while having far more bearable reload times even though you have 1 less turret. But in the game's current state, going to the wrong flank as the BB will come with 2 results: either you will do no damage or you'll be burnt to a crisp by a wall of HE spammers. Or both.

I really enjoy Vermont. Yes, the speed is frustrating at times but in my mind the guns more than make up for it. When I first got Vermont, Deadeye was still a thing and that was an absolute hoot. But even without Deadeye, Vermont is still terrific. I had a recent game where my first two salvos of the game were both triple-cit plus Dev Strikes; a Worcester and a Mino. Sadly the rest of the game was kind of 'meh' so only wound up with around 141k total damage. But those Dev Strikes out of the blue just make me giggle like a little kid.

5:47 the trick you're explaining I mostly use when getting attacked by the cv. But first making sure he doesn't have a chance to cancel his attack for another round with the aa available. really saves those couple seconds.

Minnesota isn’t the best ship out there but that feeling you get when you nuke a cruiser from 25+km in Vermont just can’t be beat. This line is worth the pain of American Dreadnaught gameplay just for the Vermont at the end.

I got it about a Month ago and after playing USN BBs mainly and some USN Cruisers, I was amazed at how fun it is. It's stupid fast for how big it is, it turns good, the guns actually hit things and I had at least two games where I got to sneak between 2 or 3 BBs before being annihilated and got them with the torps (you just have so many of them, the USN boats just skip them after T5...)

With the speed flag, that silent speed skill is kind of nice QOL buff, ersatz propulsion mod. Using the smaller secondary mod + that main battery buff skill, because you're eventually compromised and may as well get the almost 4s stacked on your Adrenaline Rush going down with the ship; that and absolute confirmation of DDs creeping up on you once its activated.

I used to hate the ship so much when I was trying to use the reload mod. The dispersion mod really makes a difference and she feels so much better now. But the most unforgettable experience I had with her was still those games against deadeye columbo's when she ate massive 20~30k sap salvos lol

i love my vermont. ever since i’ve gotten it, i haven’t played my montie, yamato, or kurfürst as much. i’m on the lion in the british BB line atm but i think i’ve become a vermont and cruiser main now. battleships just get burnt down and focused by carriers. it is no fun when your game is over in 5 minutes.

Wait until you play republique I thought Vermont was my favorite, republique with reload build goes down to 16-17 seconds reload, you want to push in and brawl, push in and yolo even! You will get over 100m dmg and a couple kills. Republique is stupid OP and fun as hell

Battelships just arent a threat anymore (unless you're going broad lol). IMO they need to adjust overpens, and increase BB survivability (ship wise, not necessarily module wise). Sure if Im caught by a bunch of enemies in open water or whatever, Im done. But in the element of a BB (whatever that is) I should be a fucking terror to see.

I agree ... they make BB life more terrible with each goddamn patch. Seriously with new Dutch Cruiser line or frigging subs - it is suicidal to go nose in as BB even with fucking sonar. Seriously so okay I have sonar but its not like I'm gonna dodge torps in GK even if I see them because they are homing. This game really fucking hates BBs and its gonna get even nastier once Subs released into randoms.

@@Mario-kf3ej For the record the torps stop homing in a kilometer or so from your ship, so while im sure something as LARGE as the GK wont dodge all of them, it is possible to do so.

As some put it "A entire line a Smolensks" Pan Asian Smoke screens on Cruisers with LOTS of DD guns, lots of deep water torps, oh and a torp reload booster at tier 8 and up, and tier 9 and 10 have heal (last one is kinda expected.)

Carrier balance idea - make carrier aircraft replenishment something that scales, so the more aircraft you lose the longer they take to replenish overall, and this timer should not reset. So if you lose 70 aircraft you should be prty much getting 1 plane a minute of replenishment (except fighters should not count towards these numbers). Currently I see carriers just casually losing like entire flights casually, and just starting next one... losing around 100 aircraft in one game and still having more to send out.

I agree with you that Vermont is a very good ship when RNG decides to roll in your favor. When RNG decides that you will have no fun, it's painful to wait those 40 seconds in the hopes that you next salvo will do better. It becomes even more painful when RNG gives you nothing but bad rolls, despite your best efforts to aim, and the red's best efforts to give you broadside shots that they should be absolutely punished for... and you either whiff or get a pity over pen. Personally I would like to see Vermont get a buff to her speed and reload time... I really haven't seen many in game as of late. Perhaps at some point in time, the mighty spreadsheet will bring War Gaming to giving the ship some extra love. I used to enjoy playing battleships in the game. I've watched many videos were CCs and others were of the opinion that subs and carriers were ruining the game and causing the passive play. They call them brokenly OP. Personally I think the most broken mechanic in the game is HE, and fire mechanics. HE is too good, and the risk of dying to a storm of orange color spam in short order is the reason people play passively. War Gaming claims that every ship has a set fire resistance based on their tier. I have to throw the BS flag as I think I spend more time in a match on fire than not when I choose to drive a BB. I played a game in my GK last night….I stalked these 2 bb’s, a Montana and azumo, I crept up from behind a island and both were broadside guns pointing away focusing my team mates…..secondary opened up and I unloaded every gun into the the azumo and deleted him…..Montana started turning in and swing guns and unloaded and wiped 40k from me…..I turned towards him and knocked almost all his health out and sped around and his guns couldnt follow and keep up….next salve into his stern deleted him as well….that kind of interactions are fun…and I wish they were rewarded more….maybe if they doubled xp or free xp for close battles and allowed for unlimited quicker cool downs for damage control and repair party for fights within 10km

conqueror ...hard to not deal over 100k damage at least. You really need super fast game where one team folds for that and BBs hide behind islands otherwise this thing just will deal damage and it doesnt give a shit if it is nose in Kremlin or Petro. As you said, no stress you gonna see pretty numbers regardless.

I really want vermont to work for me, but that line has just been so awkward with either getting god tier slaps or nothing. But with all you said at the end, that's why I like my jean bart so much, it can snipe, it can HE spam, it can AP spam with reload booster in brawling situations and it can tank anything except yammy/musashi/shiki for the most part.

I recently got Vermont and i got one God salvo against a DD. 8 overpens and 1 pen (somehow?) and that was just enough to give me a Devestating strike. never did i think my first Vermont Dev-strike would be on a DD

Battleships being the way they are lately is why I tend to just hop in Thunderer for a few games then exit to desktop. I know everyone hates Thunderer and they are annoying but for a battleship main it can be really relaxing to get consistent damage with the HE without getting the frustrations of overpens or bounces. Ofc using the AP is still nice when you have the opportunity, but the game still loves to troll. 8:23 "You're very unlikely to overpen a broadside battleship just because they're so massive" yeah you'd be surprised the kind of bullshit RNG can come up with. That's part of why Thunderer is so strong, cause it doesn't need to use AP.

I posted on reddit me in a minotaur vs 3 BBs (1 yamato, 1 republique and 1 missoury) and while I was angled I managed to tank 7 salvos in total and I managed to kill them all. people were saying a mino is supposed to live through that if you angle correctly but I call that B.S I thing battleships have become weak af and wg has to do something about them but, if people keep saying "is the players that don't know what they are doing" then they will stay like this. if you want you can find the post as "battleships are in a "fine state" ".

I can sure that Vermont will be great ship if it gets Historical Speed (25~26knots), and maybe 2 seconds of reload buff? 25knot, 38 Second Reload is still slowest, longest so not a huge big deal

yes, Vermont's hull is based on 70000ton version no1 sketch of Tillman 1916 Battleship which has 26.5knots speed The Main Armament is based on 1934 Maximum Battleship scheme B (18 inch 3×4, which finally choosen)

@@iambeloved496 whether it is or not, Vermont's speed should be at least 25knots cause minimum of max speed of any of tillman's project is not under 25 + Its shame that WOWS's Vermont's Engine Horsepower is just 65000HP Its because Wargaming misunderstand 65000 E.H.P to 65000 S.H.P Every WOWS Ship's Engine Horsepower is based on Real Ship's(or Projects) 'S.H.P' And based on that, Vermont's Engine Power should be S.H.P too Which is 130000~180000 HP Not current Destroyer Engine kind of 65000 HP cause its 'E.H.P' Whats more shame is that even few CC and Experts told wargaming about this unhistorical misunderstand of Engine Power Power, they still didn't have will to fix it 😒

I have a problem with vermont that havent been able to fix. With kansas and minnie i was able to deal great damage, and manage to average high potential damage with some WASD tanking. But with vermont i cant deal damage as good, and i take way more damage since its huge.

I have so much fun crushing broadsides in my Vermont, but I do feel your pain about the slow speed and even worse maneuverability. Question for everyone: do you run reload or range module, and why do you prefer that. Personally I’ve been using the reload module and have surprised several other players who thought they had time to turn away or around before I reloaded, but I do get some wonky dispersion every so often

Recommend the secondary-main battery reload buffing skill; don't get the benefit of the smaller dispersion module, so I took that along with the secondary skill -- under pressure, getting the reload below 30s makes you plenty scary.

Any tips for the Minnesota and Kansas? I can't quite get the hang of Kansas. Yeah, i guess you could say BBs are just highly "inconsistent", some games you go ham and live, other games you burn to death in under 5 mins time, some games you citadel the SHIT out everyone, other games OVERPEN CITY! At which point you begrudgingly turn into a HE spamming BB just to do Consistent damage to "lightly armored targets" and Destroyers. The ability of BB to take a beating also just seems to be less and less of think these days. I'm honestly not surprised "sniper BB" is what they are turning into, Think about it that's your only advantage over Cruisers besides having a Heal (tier tier 9 and 10 at which point everyone gets one), and alot of them have spotter planes (which i suck at aiming with). Especially these days with all the MACHINE GUN lvl Rainbows of yellow rain.

This is why i like to play slawa. Guns are absolutely brilliant. You can pen anything but rarely overpen thanks to the relatively short fuse. Only thing you have to worry about is angle, but with the right positioning thats not an issue at all.

IMO, Vermont is the only battleship that i somehow love even tho i dont play the game, but not just because its slow but very powerful and chonky but a sniper, its also because its a Tillman battleship. A MODERNIZED version. Tillman were supposed to be powerful, including the SEXTUPLE equipped one. Idk how the sextuple guns will work on that. I always love tillman battleships since i first heard them. And Vermont is one of them. It would be also interesting to see Connecticut in the game, because Connecticut was named after a dreadnought Connecticut-class. And Vermont is also one of the class. It would be interesting to see Vermont's sister brawling in the game. If WG can work up on that.

And then there's the German Battle cruisers coming out that will look at Battleship frustration and say "Let's put them all on these". Just gonna be fires everywhere. I just don't have any t10 BB's right now. I have Kürfurst unlocked but I sold it a year ago because it was frustrating. I feel like I would still be frustrated to play it. Feels like the game just doesn't want to be fair to you when you are in it. Playing Tirpitz or Bismarck feels better but still frustrating.

Vermont is ridiculous, at least how I build it. Everything has been committed to accuracy and survival. 47% torpedo damage reduction, and 92 aa rating. Suffice it to say, it tears top tier squadrons apart by itself within one attack run, even at the end of the game and torps do next to nothing.

I quite like the fat boi US line (more or less like the normal US line) but its all BB's that are frustrating... You get every few games a game where RNG fucks you over hard whole match. Leg mod Yamato (IJN line) + US BB's (both lines) are one of the most consistant i feel (probably because of the US having extra acc mod, and IJN long range best horizontal dispersion). I know that IJN more circular dispersion that doesnt allow such devastating strike broadside hits, but is more effective vs angled targets and best med/long range dispersion, so great for shooting contest :). At the same time US line with extra 6th slot mod gets good buff to dispersion (and the range mod bugged mechanics giving them also acc). I do get good RNG/hit ratio on french BB's but they lack the caliber + AP dmg and vs angled you are forced to shoot HE what i dont like. And the rest of nations is just shotgun effect. Irony is that in real life jugding by double confirmed hits German and British BB's should be the most accurate (and we all know German accuracy in game), and if we count in 1 side confirmed then IJN should be up there the most accurate (at least in game they are). Solo play with BB's in randoms is annoying, but in division they are probably 2nd most influencial class, as even in 2 BB's (if you have 1 german for hydro, specially fun with 1 Yamato, for the overmatch and good tankyness when angled) you can pull of superb win rates (my avg WR last 3 weeks is almost 90%) and you can push, have fun even without DD. Btw Yamato is a primary target from 6 years now :D - not only because of AA but because nobody can rly angle vs it, so ppl hate it.

For the most part i like playing Conq, firing HE is ok but when someone thinks you wont swap to AP and opens up to your 419mm guns and boom! best part, just a shame it is made out of butter and yamma is a butter knife.....

I hate facing this shit in a Yama. Any damage you do that isn’t citadels is meaningless, she just heals it all back up. Meanwhile, you’re being set on fire constantly and you have ign damage con and heals - neither of which are long lasting or quick-reloading. Sure, you can blap a conqueror if they show full broadside but honestly at that point you’re relying on luck.

I'm a cruiser and DD main, and I've actually, somehow, started to enjoy battleships a lot. Sure, I can clearly feel the frustrating parts, but even if RNG can be annoying, I think the fact that you can just shoot, shoot shoot, more or less the whole game makes battleships the most consistant class still. You may not have quite the carry-potential of DDs and cruisers, but I think BBs are very confortable to play, and I've had really good results in them.😊

Alabama was a premium NC, that got better torpedo protection, and turning radius, at the cost of some accuracy. Then they buffed the NC with more than 30% better repair parties, which left the poor Alabama quite sad and forgotten!😬

Forgive me, but from what i've seen in this video, i think maybe sometimes you have been too stubborn with AP shells against heavily armored targets. Ok, this ship is tremendously binded to positive rng, but when it lacks why not switching to HE shells in order to still consistent? Talking about your "skirmish" with Richeliu: at first sight i thought you have voluntarily lost that fight only to show clearly the biggest weakness of your ship. I mean: you knew Vermont can't overmatch her bow, so why you insisted with AP when you could have simply overwhelmed that french BS just by burning her to death? After all, you had twice of her guns, a bigger caliber and almost twice of her hp; a tier 8 bb simply can't sustain a long lasting gunfight and, as you said at the end of the video, you knew it ;-) For the rest, excellent content, as always.

I was thinking the same thing. French BBs just melt at the sight of a match stick, 2 fires and 10k each salvo would have made that guy turn around and go dark.

Because he was hoping to unlock the Vermonts gimmick, 20k bow in shots. If you watch Trenlass's vermont videos, you see him shoot at the superstructure of bow in or angled bbs, and do 20k, because 12 18in guns with pin point accuracy can hit the superstructure alone for big dmg

@@qmaximus5207 Ah ok, got it. But i think it works better vs T10 bbs with large superstructure, like Republique, GK, Yamato or even another USA bbs. Richelieu has a narrow profile and a less bulky superstructure, wich was more difficult to struck with massive salvo but at same time way easier to saturate. Anyway it's only my opinion, and i'm sure he could have overcome the french BB whenever he wanted to ;-)

I find Vermont, like most other BBs in the game these days, to be an overpen fest. I average 90%+ overpens against same tier BBS. the overpens alone make Vermont too frustrating to play.

I'm not where you get these games. My opponents are always hiding behind rocks. CAs HE spam me if I get too close to the center of the map. Nothing is spotted, and if it is it's a 16 second trip for the shells to get there. And CV attacks are plentiful and relentless. And I don't find Vermont's guns compelling at all.

I like my Vermont, but being a coop only player makes it pretty useless, you don't get to shoot any broadsides because by the time you're there, everything is dead.

BB AP is rng on rng, it's so inconsistent and only getting worse. Rarely does it feel good since the swings between punishing and doing zero are off the charts even with targets who sit broadside like complete idiots.

Overpens are BS. I'd want to see _internal damage saturation_ - something like Bulkhead Integrity - that would modify critical damage rates, so there was some illusion of support fire beyond citadel deletion in BBs. Overmatch would play into it.

the biggest down side to the Vermont for me is the loooonnnngggg reloads. it feels like you are not really in the game at times.

I don't understand why people are so enamored with Vermont. In spite of having sacrificed all of your speed for an extra gun turret, you then get punished for that extra turret again with a _really_ bad reload, leading to a very mediocre DPM. Since guns is the only thing that ship has going for it, poor DPM is not a good trait to have.

This game is a good example of what bollocks the argument, "you still have to be skilled to make use of a lucky situation so lucky players are good too," which just means you need to have a higher IQ than with a sack of rocks to have a lucky success in an obviously winning situation

While I appreciate you showing the low points of playing the Vermont, you kind of missed the *big* low points of Vermont: You have to suffer through some abject trash to get there. Minnesota is bad; it can't angle vs. anything, because you can't angle a circle, and Minnesota is the chonkiest chonk that ever chonked... and the Kansas is just hot garbage.
