Director of Photography, Mélodie Preel sets a striking 70's tone for Disney+/Hulu’s upcoming six-part original series "Becoming Karl Lagerfeld" about the rise of the iconic designer.
The show begins streaming June 7 on Hulu (U.S.) and Disney+ (UK and France).
Preel, a French filmmaker, shot episode 101 “The Mercenary of Prêt-à-Porter,” episode 102 “Do You Have a Style?” and parts of episode 106 “Monaco?”
To capture the show's locations in France, Monaco and Italy, Preel chose to shoot with two Alexa Mini LFs. She used a set of TRIBE7 BLACKWING7X and TRIBE7 BSpoke lenses, 58mm and 95mm Petzvalds and one 32mm Atlas Orion anamorphic lense.
Preel set a distinct look for the show, which feels like a dreamy memory of a past era.
