I had an opportunity to work with Maria in a now defunct promotion called Covey Pro during her first few years. I did photography for a while & got a about 40 pictures during the match. I believe after showing her one picture her comments to me was, "My @$$ is hanging out." There's a lot of pressure on women in general nowadays to fit the in the Barbie looking mold. Sincerity, authenticity, is a power in a world that thinks you fit a mold. I'm glad to see she's been able to redefine what's out there because the world needs more bold & badass women that are not expected to fit a Barbie mold.

Loved it. The part where she’s talking about the first time she bumped made me wonder though … did no one explain to her or show her how to bump properly first? I have to assume not which is literally insane that ANYONE would let someone with 0 experience even try without making sure they know what to do first. She’s actually quite lucky that she only got a concussion. - When l was around 18 l met someone who wasn’t 18 yet and essentially just doing backyard wrestling with his friend group. I hung around and tried it out for a little bit then never went anywhere with it clearly. I only bring it up because even with teenagers backyard wrestling … the first thing my friend taught me was how to bump the right way so you don’t risk breaking your neck lol. Anyway he hadn’t found huge success mainstream but he’s still done decent for himself and is still wrestling now 17 years later lol.
