Becoming Wanna One Was Not Easy (Kang Daniel Version)

Hello everyone!
This video is a little heavier than what I usually do but it's a topic that's close to my heart since Wanna One is one of my bias groups. I've been seeing a good amount of Wanna One dislike/hate hovering about, especially in the international kpop fans spheres so I wanted to do something about it; even if my contribution doesn't do much, I still wanna make the contribution.
Let's be a little more gentle when it comes to idols, shall we? It's not fair to hate on someone just because you don't deem them worthy of their fame. You're allowed to not like someone but let's not get vicious with it. I hope this series will help you see that Wanna One too worked really hard for what they now have. The Produce series can be hell to live through.

This is really touching. I noticed him since Pick Me MV released, and his hair was bright pink. And I saw this one comment in youtube that said, "I bet when he changed his hair, no one will recognize him. He's only stand out for his pink hair". But look at him now, he's number 1 in male idol brand reputation for months, respectively. Almost everyone knows him in South Korea, no matter what colour his hair is. lol.

i'm guilty. and i'm a late fan. when i heard about them last year, i felt that they were overpowering golden child so i did not bother checking them and i was thinking that their songs were not my style. it was only after produce 48, the first produce series i've watched real-time, that i got curious about wannaone, since people in the comment section mentioned that pd101 s2 was better bcoz the top 1 got more than a million votes. i then checked recorded videos of pd101 s2 and got hooked. i was amazed, laughed and cried throughout the episodes. and i started to appreciate wannaone and all idol groups. this industry is not that easy. i hope that everyone will not forget them even after this december. 😢😢😢

I still remember the thrill of watching his Sorry Sorry fancam surpassing the fancam of popular trainees until it reaches #1 on Naver TV and stay there without being touched. Kang Daniel was never greedy about the center position. Sure he likes it and so were everyone, but he never hurt other people's feelings or pushed them out of his way just to force himself as the center. That is why I'm happy when he ends up being the center for wannaone. Also every member of wannaone deserves all the recognition and support they have. They just deserve all the love. Wannables are wannables not just because these boys are good looking but because wannables witnessed all the happiness and hardships these boys went through p101. Daniel's journey throughout Produce is like dream... A 'too good to be true' from-zero-to-hero story. He was just a teenager when he came from Busan to Seoul all by himself to become a trainee; to pursue his dream in dancing. But years of training didn't paid off (yet). He stucked in the company that didnt gave him proper training and didn't have any plan to debut him in the future. He was so close to giving up until Jisung suggested him and the other MMO trainees to go to P101. Daniel just decided to just give it a shot and take it as his last chance, hoping that he would at least reach top 22 and gain just-enough reputation from the show. His early journey in Produce turned out to be smoother than he thought it would be; he became the ace in class B and able to climbed to class A. Reality just hit him when he got the last place from his team on the first live evaluation; like, he probably didnt expected to got a result that low just when he was the most confident about himself and when he already did his best, and feeling crushed because probably, his best wasn't good enough. Nevertheless, he kept his spirits up and little did he knew at that time, that his individual cam of that one performance when he 'scored' poorly would become viral and sent him to become one of the most awaited contender on the show. Just when he got in top 5 and about to secured his popularity on the show, he stuck into the four-cats 'scandal' that he made by himself. He admitted his mistake immediately, yet antis still took it as a chance to sent him tons of hates and asked for him to got removed from the show. The popularity he just started to built might started to crumble. But he stayed strong (so did his fandom), took every consequences of his actions; and at that time his Get Ugly fancam became his second viral fancam and he managed to secured his place in top 10. One of the penalty he got for his mistakes was him being put into Open Up team; the only empty slot remained of all 5 songs. Nevertheless he did it wholeheartedly and leaded his team well, learned from his previous mistakes as a leader. And yeah, as everyone already knew this now; his team landed first place and he got himself the first place out of all 35 trainees, something he never got until that point. It exponentially sent him to the top of the show and he never leave that spot till the end, and going even higher and higher until he become the Kang Daniel we knew today. Truly God's work. I'm sorry this turned into a wholeass essay tldr; i'm so proud of him, of how he got into his place now because of his hardwork, patient, and endurance. He really is something else, and he really deserve that title as 'the man who moved South Koreans'. He's such an inspiration, seriously.

I never watched Produce 101 S2 from the very beginning. I thought, Kang Daniel was always on the top . I didn't know that he has gone through a very long journey. I'm very proud of my baby who did not give up despite everything. My heart was seriously hurting. I really didn't know that he was going through this hardships. I guess viewers wouldn't even think putting him on Open Up team because his image from previous episodes and how the show portrays him (like a goofy puppy, always smiling trainee) is the total opposite of that concept (sexy, EDM kind of song) but it just so happens that he's under the cat controversy so it's like a punishment putting him there. He did his best on that team to make it work even if it looks like he can't pull off that concept. And he end up KILLING that concept that made him THE CENTER OF SOUTH KOREA. Although i was deeply sad cuz Jonghyun and Samuel didn't make it, I was so happy for Niel, I felt like a mom who saw a child growing up and achieving his life goals. I wonder if Daniel chose to dance in choosing nayana center evaluation, would he become center since that period? and i'm still salty over Mnet edit on Daniel's leadership during Open up. It was divided into two groups. One led by him and other Dongho(like sub-leader). People still bashed him how he only cared his own group but in reality if you looked closely in his group, all members had low ranking but in the second group, the members had decent ranking. Moreover, in his group most of them are lacking. Whether you know it or not, those trainees did vlive afterward and they said they were very grateful of Daniel because if him they were able to remember the dance quickly. Srsly Mnet??? Guys, if you ever feel the need to shut down anyone for accusing Daniel of being "unfairly favoured", copy-paste below. Daniel was pushed FROM THE START. Biased airtime. WRONG. At the start of the show, he gotten quite few airtime because he was simply being himself (a curious, excited, nervous pink haired puppy). And it wasn't ONLY him, but all MMO boys. Jisung was the catalyst and other MMO boys simply joined in as I'm sure they usually do. Knets even called them 'the talkative bunch'. It just so happen, Jisung and Daniel were the most active, loud and noticeable. People forget that PD101 is still a variety show. The pd will obviously pick out funny and entertaining reactions. Daniel's bright personality and reactions stood out from the rest. This has been proven from all the variety shows Daniel been on. So, if there's anyone to blame, it's the PD for choosing to edit it like so. But it can't be helped. I mean, look now that Korea has seen most of Kang Daniel, they've come to understand why he's so loveable and couldn't get enough of him. By the way, notice how as PD101 episodes go on, the contestants start to break their cool image and act more carefree/endearing on the show, in order to appeal to the viewers. Because they've learned that it's a great way to gain airtime/fans/support, as how Jisung did. Meanwhile, Daniel still went on to do his own thing, minding his own business. The things Kang Daniel said. "He puts MSG in every sentence, manipulates viewers into thinking he's better blablabla". Please, as if he's the only one. You even have trainees crying on camera, why don't you call that as 'sympathy card'? You have trainees over-reacting at the smallest thing, why don't you call them out as cringe? Every (clever) trainees does so to get some airtime. They know how important it is. Besides, even current idols/celebrities always put MSG in their words, but you don't realise it. The 'cat controversy'. Literally, the only scandal he had on the show. Remember how he placed last, and second last. Not seeing his effort paying well, made him desperate. He mentioned in WO GO, how he even thought about giving up. He wanted it as much as other contestants. Yes, you could argue, "still other contestants didn't do it". But how are you so sure they wouldn't if they could've? Maybe they planned to but were too scared for the consequences. Maybe they never even thought of it. Maybe they weren't caught! Around the time of controversy, Daniel was considered as one of the more popular trainees. Even some trainees knew his nickname, 'King Daniel'. More popular you are, more people want to bring you down. Which is why, people jumped on it the moment he tripped, and caused an uproar. Then, people found out that there were other trainees who done it as well, but didn't get as much flame/attention online. He's a fraud for doing so. Acts innocent on camera, but am a crook in real life. Need I remind people that Daniel is human too? If you don't follow him, you wouldn't know that he's really a child despite his appearance. He doesn't think much of anything. The kind of guy who follows his first instinct/heart, instead of overthinking things. It's the reason why he's able to live positively and continue pursuing what he loves. So, this mistake doesn't make him a bad person, but it does make him foolish. What upsets me, is how people act as if they've never broken any rules or laws, nor done anything wrong at any age. I doubt those who criticised Daniel have been living like a saint. The only difference, Daniel was caught, punished, and had his "crime" displayed for the whole world to judge, twisted to make it look worse. We've seen a lot of SJW's playing detective, digging (even unknown) trainees past and posing as online police. Why they didn't remove him from the show. This is what a lot people pointed out. As his fan who followed his rise, I'd say it's because he was gaining so much popularity, at that point the people behind PD101 felt it'd be a waste not to make use of him. I don't think they knew he'd win 1st place, but they thought he'd at least rank somewhere around 9-11. So, instead of dismissing him entirely, they decided to punish him instead. Yet he ended up creating one of PD101 legendary stage, which only made him soar further. Anyway, only in this case I understand when people question the show. Since it is a valid point and quite shady IMO. However, at the same time, if they've already had a particular line-up in mind, then why did Daniel do it? Doesn't add up.
