I agree you gain a lot more of knowledge from past papers. I’m a final year BsC student in biomedical sciences and physiology and I’ve always ONLY used past papers as my source of studying. I do them throughly and the force me to redirect back to the content of the topics. Starting from scratch writing notes and trying to figure out the content has never worked for me. I half start and become lazy and inconsistent in that way. I also use past papers to compare the questions and the exam guides of the previous years to the actual exams. You also realize that as much as the questions in past papers are never identical but their contents are ALWAYS very similar, you can always grasp a whole topic from each question . And if you can do max four past papers you’ll notice the consistency.
