Just regular maintenance film replacing brake pads at 6000 miles, rear was ok and front half worn but summer miles ahead so some pre maintenance a good idea,

I am one pf the people who watch both the motorcycle AND the fat bike stuff. I do enjoy the motorcycle stuff slightly more I admit, but I also like pushbikes too. But it's the local scenery that I enjoy in both! So much that I intend to visit the area when I can. Lovely place. I also enjoy the down to earth nature of your vids and I find myself no longer watching slick 'professional' tubers as I find they are a bit repetitive, especially so called testers. Just you keep doing what you do.

Morning Bruce, another informative video, thank you. My subs are increasing slowly, maybe 1 or 2 a day, and so are my views. I still haven’t earned enough to receive my first payment, and looking like averaging £25 a month at the moment, but like you, I don’t allow KZbin to smoother my vids with adverts. Sometimes they stick 7-9 adverts in a 20/30 minute video, so I go in and change to just 2, usually at natural break points. I have noticed that some of the big channels, just let YT stick them in wherever, even less than 2 minutes from the start, and then at about 5/6 minute intervals. They are probably not that bothered about losing the odd sub, as they have so many ! Cheers

Hi Ian, adverts do ruin some channels, there does not seem to be any way to get those thousands of views except loads of adverts, if it gets some petrol money each month then it’s always something, some channels get thousands of views for not very informative or entertaining content and some really good channels get little, I have two friends who have sea fishing channels, that’s a massive worldwide Audience yet only get a few hundred views each episode, it’s all weird!, hope you get more subs and start to get some cash coming in 😁👍 cheers Bruce

Funnily enough I find remounting the rear wheel on my NC750X difficult as well. Honda, in their infinite wisdom, has ditched the straight-forward torque bar of old and now it is far fiddlier than it should be to get everything back together. Progress ! you just can't beat it...

I loved the snail cam chain adjusters on my Honda XR 400r Enduro bike, it made fast removal and refitting easy for timed pit stops be it racing or for trail riding puncture repairs, simple and easy which the Classic 350 should have as it is a lovely bike to work on! 😁👍

The first instructional video in English ..congratulations Bruce! Dunbar looks like a lovely little town, especially now summer here. On the subject I phoned the post office in the High Street to ask if I could post the shell case (I didn't tell them it was a shell case) so you could collect from there, but the lady said it was not possible, so sadly it looks like I'm stuck with it. Which is a shame, because it would have looked much in your collection than stuck in a cupboard in my house. Regards Mick

I should redo the brake pad film Mick when I check them before winter as it be easier and ok to remove the pad pins and take them out to inspect and blast the callipers with brake cleaner, then if you we’re fitting new pads manually push in the pistons, Also going to get that re wheel removal unaided dialled! 😁👍

Great tip to save half-worn pads as spares. If the past years have taught us anything it’s that weird things with logistics can and will happen. All of a sudden your pads might not be in stock when you need a new set; better to have a pair of half-worn ones than a pair of busted ones.

Also, in regards to you talk at the end I’m currently living the dream of motorcycling through you. Spent my uni days in Scotland and didn’t see enough of the country outside of uni, work and pubs (you know the deal). Now I’m busy with small kids and work but eventually I’ll be tottering about those same roads on a reasonable bike. I call it my mid-life-crisis-trip. And until I can get that going I’ll just watch your motorcycling videos if that’s fine ^^.

Hi Bruce, another great video bar, the back brake hiccup. I had covered 4.5k on my 350 reborn with no issues whatsoever. Now I have bought the signals desert sand 350 as I love the paint job and markings. These wee bikes are cheap enough, so you can have a couple and still have money left from buying a big adventure bike.. and if all you are doing is riding around Lane's and B Road Adventures, they're all you need. I have always used engine braking, or a combination of both, when riding or driving 4 wheedlers. Not only cuts down on wear, but offers another level of control. Cheers. 🥃

There seems to be a track record of forgetting your phone 🤣🤣🤣 I got to say I am pretty shocked to learn you have to drop the rear wheel to change brake pads, that seems mental. I am nowhere near monetisation as have so few subs but even if I did it not my motivation for releasing videos (if it was I would have stopped ages ago) and not suggesting for a minute it is yours either. Rather I enjoy the process of recording video and producing some sort of video that I can enjoy to watch again. If other folk get some sort of interest in them than that is a Bertie bonus. Having had Guzzis for years with Brembo brakes I was shocked to learn that I'd have to remove the rear wheel to replace the pads so I checked the manual. According to RE all you have to do is remove the spring clip, knock out the pin and the pads should be easy to remove from the rear - same as the Guzzis. I know you were also giving everything a good clean as well so needed to get things dismantled but for us fair weather riders just replacing the pads should be enough. The front work in a similar way so all I'll need to do is drive the pistons back in with a wedge and put the new pads in. This may prove more difficult than it looks but I'll give it a go soon. Brembo used to do rebuild kits for the brakes with new pins etc. but I've no idea if they will fit Bybre.

You will deft be able to swap out to new pads easily on both callipers with them both left in place as you say and I wish now I had just done this and saved time as being so new there was no problem with stuck calliper pistons, cheers Bruce

Regarding removing the back wheel, I remember from an earlier video that you had a piece of wood to raise the centre stand to give better clearance but found it not quite balanced . Just curious if you came up with another solution? I’m keen to have something similar to keep in the pannier in case of a need for a roadside repair of a rear tyre puncture. Apologies if you’ve answered this question already elsewhere. Thanks.

Hi Neil, I have the lenght of CLS to fit under the side stand and also a re usable cable tie to lock the front brake to prevent the bike rolling, in other comments it was suggested a lever type bit of wood to lift the wheel with your foot to allow you free hands to Aline everything, I’m away next week on the bike but will try get a film made trying all suggested methods of easier rear wheel removal on your own to solve it 👍😁 cheers Bruce

When I'm dropping my rear wheel (don't need it as much with the front), I always use a plank of wood and a wooden block so I can set up a lever to help lift the wheel. It helps a little with dealing with the trickiness of getting the caliper and rear axle all lined up. I notice that you are using sintered pads. Do you know if the factory pads are sintered and do you have an opinion on the idea that sintered pads wear the disc quicker than non-sintered?

Oh I’m no aware if stock are sintered or not, I just bought the pads from Hitchcocks, guess rotors should still last a while as not hard breaking much with so good engine breaking 👍 That’s a good ideal using the wood as a lever, I need to try that and post a how to do film for other folk who have also struggled the same, of course you will get the credit for your idea 😁👍

Great video Bruce. I'm just about to tackle this job on my Classic for the first time. No idea what the pads are like yet but after nearly 9k miles I'm finding some strange pulsing on the front brake, like it's repeatedly gripping and releasing. Quite disconcerting. Oh and would carb cleaner work as well as brake cleaner to clean out the callipers? Cheers!

You're going to have to watch your video with your phone, pause, and take a screen shot. I do that with a few videos I watch when I see a scene that I want to capture. As far as the money off the videos, it seems that KZbin structures the revenue so that this is mainly a break even hobby, and the content makers don't go broke from the expense.

It seems to me a UK/Scottish thing to apply copper grease to new brake pad kind of thing?🤔 Is it because of the road salt applied in winter? I’ve never used copper grease here in Australia personally because I thought the brake pad backing material has a small percentage of copper alloy, hence the colour. I’ve never had my new pads squeal to a stop. Wouldn’t the copper grease wash away riding in constant rain? I truly am wanting to understand this. Thanks🙌

Hi Steve, good observation and question that I honestly cannot answer the reason why it’s done, just always seen it done, garages seem to put a silver plaster now on them, maybe a zinc mixture?, I’m sure someone on the know will be along to comment why exactly it’s done! 😁👍 cheers Bruce

To add some info a friend tonight said he thinks it is for stopping brakes squealing, and interestingly Cooper grease is now banned at Torness Nuclear Power station just outside of town as being cooler it is conductive, and they use a silver anti corrosion paste now that also silver like mechanics ow use on cars, my tin of coppergrease funnily came from a contractor that works at ‘Tornoble’ 🤣😁👍

As to 99 miles on a tenner, what's the liter price? On a guess I'd say thats only around 70-75 mpg which is pretty low for a J series

Arguably EBC sintered pads are better, I saw these and read a few reviews, and decided to go EBC but any of the big brand pads are better than the stock 😊
