Thank you for the ones that have put kind comments, but for some this was our home... My grandmother was on o2 and was lucky a passerby helped her and my mother in law out that home! Bedford county did a great job saving a lot of our belongings. It may have not been top notch but our grandfather built our home. Im thankful my kids where in shool and my family got out safe! Yes we lost memories but i still have my family! No we cant replace some things but you cant replace family. Im thankful for what we have we work hard. For the rude obnoxious comments i wouldnt wish this on yall but live in our shoes and see how it would feel!

So sorry for your loss. I get sick and tired of all these negative comments as well. People don't realize a few things. You are NOT near a fire department, and I'm sure that, given the size of Bedford it's all Volunteer. I grew up in a small Michigan town and currently live in one. It can take a while for crews to arrive. I think they did a pretty good job considering.

Whether you complain or not, Fire Fighters go after the fire, but under orders from their chief. I'm not a fire fighter, but I have a lot of respect for them. They are not paid enough for the work do and continue to serve their communities. I take my hat off to them all!

Survey says: The guys on the yellow line are completely useless and should save their energy to pack hose for the guys that actually do the firefighting. Nice work to the guys on the orange line. You need to be aggressive if you ever want to save anything but a cellar.

My dad was a volunteer for our fire Dept during the 50's and 60's. They had to assist another township at a house fire. When they pulled up, all that other township firefighters were outside spraying water. Our township firefighters, got the hoses and went inside and the fire was under control and extinguished in minutes. And this was before air tanks and masks.

I don't have a problem with attacking after a partial roof collapse. Sometimes those are easier (visibility) and quicker to knock down because of access to the attic. But it is awfully hard to fight a fire with two cowboys and nine kink-chasers. You've got a ripping structure fire fifteen feet behind you and you're going to put water on the lawn fire? Really? Props to the guys on the orange line.

You were flowing two 1 3/4 lines.Hit it big from the start with the 2 1/2 and get the bulk of the fire knocked out quick then go to work with the 1 3/4. A constuctive criticism is all.

@riseagan
@riseagan 4 жыл бұрын
The fire that he put out was just in the eves. If you're fighting a well established fire, a fog patter won't have the ability to penetrate and be effective. The heat will cause the individual water droplets to evaporate before it has any real effect. A lot of departments around where Im from are doing away with the combination nozzles and switching back to smooth bore and solid streams for actual suppression.
@mrcrazy051
@mrcrazy051 4 жыл бұрын
I like the comment even though I've been inactive since 2010 never saw a officer do a 360, no rehab after guys came out and not even a staging area for fresh firefighters to wait for assignment. Then the two guys come out after being inside for new bottles really that's just stupid and dangerous especially when there's enough firefighter's on scene to rotate them in/out.
@erickaegi629
@erickaegi629 4 жыл бұрын
For some reason the insurance companies seem to think that using a fog. Pattern causes more damage which I think is a crock of bull!
@ericpl7227
@ericpl7227 3 жыл бұрын
Fog patter produces smaller droplets of water! Smaller droplets of water evaporate quicker and are gone before they reach the fire! Straight stream produces larger droplets of water, therefore the water actually gets TO the fire!
@JasmineLindros
@JasmineLindros 3 жыл бұрын
@@ericpl7227 If the fire is ten feet in front of your nozzle, a solid stream will splash all over YOU without putting much wet stuff on the red stuff. For short range, a fog pattern does the most suppression with the least amount of wasted water. The initial attack looked effective, wide pattern on the front of the house and eaves, solid (-ish) stream through the windows into the room beyond.

You talk about your home not being top notch. That was incorrect as it looks like a happy home with lots of love. That is the best anyone can expect. Being happy, warm in winter, dry, cool in summer is top notch. Many look to a fancy house for happy and in many cases it just isn't there. I myself rather be happy with lots of love. God bless.

Why this crew made an interior attack after a partial roof collapse is beyond my comprehension. There is no rescue so there is no need to risk firefighters for a house that will be demolished. Hit it with a deck gun and mop it up.

Trouble You don't know construction. They were perfectly safe in there. Even in the left side for a while. If the ceiling joists haven't burned through, they will carry the roof debris. What these guys needed was a Push from a Leader to get up to the window and door and kick the fire in the ass instead of holding back so long.

ronymexico1, you have an awful a lot to say on a topic you apparently don't understand very well. If you could read and comprehend the description of the video you would know they were dispatched as RIT on the initial assignment. They arrived first and pulled a line. They didn't have a water supply so a deck gun would have been great for about 30 seconds. The department is a great, aggressive department. I was not interior nor was I there, but they've seen enough fire to know when to evacuate.

Unoccupied, once the roof structure comes down its time to retreat and regroup. Going inj and standing under that structure and getting trapped, then more firefighters have to go in. First job - don't become a liability, Ok, I watched some more of the video. The truck has onboard water. The engineer activates the pump and hits the Visible Burning Material with the Deck Gun for 5 seconds to knocked the legs out from under it. They are probably bring their own water so they need to THINK of where every drop goes. Neither of these guys on the nozzles has a clue how to stop this fire. The one on the right Wasted his water on the outside of the building while the guy on the left used a straight stream that does not cover enough burning material to even slow this down. One should have hit the window and the other the door with 35% cones FROM CLOSE RANGE! When they finally knock down the first floor flames using double the water they should have, they stand in the same spots and continue hosing down the same material. The guy in the orange helmet is a worthless human. 3:55 How much water does he have to put in one spot? The guy in the red helmet is useless as he has a great view if the attic fire and can direct orange helmet to move to the left so he can get a direct shot into the attic on Burning Material! Some lessons to be learned here!

Build quality of houses in America are bad, which doesn't help things. Fire fighters in the uk and Europe will enter a building even if there is nothing else at risk due to being able to rebuild the damaged part of the building. So by looking at these videos and i have viewed a lot. It appears that..if there is no one or nothing at risk. Then. Fuck it let it burn? Surely the more they can save...the more the owners can rebuild?
