Excellent lecture. Can somebody please explain why the RA is visualized at the bottom left of the picture when looking for the IVC? I can't seem to wrap my head around the connection between the ultrasound probe and then image that is generated in that particular view. Thanks!
@POCUSGeek Жыл бұрын
Two simple points/rules to help you orient yourself for any image: 1 - The top of the screen is where you probe is touching the patient. The bottom of the screen is where you are aiming/directing the probe. 2- The probe marker points the same way as the probe indicator on the screen (dot, company logo, etc). So in an IVC view we have the probe on the subxiphoid area with the probe marker directed towards the patients feet. Because we are in a cardiac setting our probe indicator is on the right side of the screen. So using the above rules we can orient ourselves on the screen. The top of the screen is the patients anterior abdomen. The bottom of the screen is the patients posterior or back. So the ivc is at the bottom of the screen. 2nd - our probe marker is towards the patients feet in this exam and we are in a cardiac setting. So the right side of the screen represents the caudal portion and the left side the cephalic portion of the image -- This then puts the heart towards the left side of the screen (cephalic) and shows the IVC dropping in. I hope that helps. Here is a video I did a while back on b-mode ultrasound that goes through those rules. Keep in mind that this is in an abdominal setting and the probe indicator on the screen is moved. The same rules apply though. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHqcpGppqtSpiKc

Kindly edit the transcript . It has no punctuation marks. Also there are spelling errors that makes one difficult to catch the new terms of technology. All this is probably due to auto-generated text. KZbin too must develop auto-punctuation, automatic capitalisation, and continuous updating of words relating to technical terminology. Thank you so much. The is otherwise a must watch video. Excellent, and very much informative, even to the people of non-native English.

Is it normal to do the ultrasound scan on the breast bone ref the Apical search? After, slightly higher, every 2nd beat was a huge plume, not a dot... What does this beating like a plume represent?

The only thing I'm confused on is the indicator marker in parasternal. It shows it on the right on the screen but on the probe its on the left?
