I like your way of building, let things develop out of a master idea. We will see in the end how it looks like. Just let it happen, it is a good way to learn for you and us. Is that Fly Mini a sign of things to come? I ordered one too, no idea what I will use it for. Yet.

This is a fun idea for a project. My first 3d printer was the Geeetech i3 pro b, which had an acrylic frame... I did get it put together after a week of working on it and did get a lot of prints off it, but man It was kinda sketchy with all the exposed wires and power terminals... I'm definitely interested in seeing how your re-design goes. I might have to do something similar with mine... though I definitely want to replace the frame on mine.

I would be interested in finding out how different the frames are, they do look similar, but I haven't found any files to compare the two.
