Do you let the fresh plant matter wilt a bit before adding oil? Just wondering about the water content from the plant matter. Thank you

@barblehmicke6097 Great question. Monarda isn't a plant heavy with moisture . I would allow something like touch me not ( Impatiens) wilt for 16 or more hours

Thank you for the video. But I’ve always used dry plant matter with oil infusion. Have you had any problems with it spoiling bc the fresh plants have water in them?

@rsa9082 it is a good point that could have / should have been mentioned. Beebalm and yarrow have much less water than something like Jewelweed . Using fresh plant cellulose isn't necessary and will shorten the shelf life of infused oils . I've personally never had any spoil but always discard at 12 months

@@FoundYouForaging thank you for your response. I had my first batch of another plant for seriously rancid and that has always bothered me when I see other videos making salve or infused oils. It did stop me for, quite a while from making anything. It actually scared me to think of someone didn’t stop and went ahead and used rancid oils putting in on a cut or rash could cause a really bad reaction. Thank you again

I keep it at room temp and out of sunlight . The standard is one year .

I would use these choices of essential oils, tea tree, lavender, or vitamin E. Only a few drops are needed.
