Wrong, it's from 1976, from their great album Children Of The World. And from the 1st line, Robin's voice is unmistakable. I love this song. And the fact that they constantly reinvented themselves from their 1st hits in 1967, thru the 70s, 80s, 90s. Too many people think they're defined by the Saturday Night Fever late 70s stuff, the falsetto etc. They wrote beautiful ballads from the 60s on and this is one of them. They could do and did, many different styles. That's part of what makes them amazing. And in this one, Robin's voice. Period.

I do enjoy your facial expressions when you are listening to the music. I think that all 3 of the Bee Gees have marvelous singing voices, otherwise how could they do those marvelous harmonies? Anyway, very talented men, no matter how you look at it.

This song is pre-Fever period. I LOVE this song!! Especially the harmonies at Love Me Please... ❤ Their manager said that individually they were fabulous, but together they were MAGIC!! Yes, that is Barry and Robin changing leads!! That is Mo's musical genius handiwork, bass and keys ❤

Creative geniuses, the more you delve into this group the more you will find so many different styles that they have covered. Robin's voice is my favorite but I enjoy all 3. Thanks Jay for checking it out one of my favorites (that was Barry in that one verse and Robin letting loose at the end)

Thanks, Jay, for reacting to a great Robin lead. What a wonderful song! Truly shows the versatility in Robin's voice and that was Barry in the section of the song you mentioned him. Great reaction, Jay.

I first heard this song over 40 years ago....and only NOW do I realise that it is Robin on lead. An amazing song - it always has been in my opinion. Robin sounds so wholesome and so 'normal' and I do not NOT mean that in a negative way. Great reaction dude as ever. That Greatest Hits album is the best ever Greatest Hits album of all time ever! So soulful and even discoish and funky and great. BTW it is 100% Bee Gees soundish. Finally - this is one of Robin's very best vocal performances...deffo top 5 and even top 3.....Try Your Love Will Save The World.

I wondering what you mean about, that it does not sound Bee Gees like and later you state the disco/funk sound is the Bee Gees sound. For us fans that is completely wrong. It was only 5 years of their career where they went the heavy Funk/R&B/Disco route. In the rest of their career that began with getting their name in 1958, their first single in 1963 and their last album in 2001 they were all over the place with other genres spanning from classical music with "Seven Seas Symphony" in 1969, Country like "Country Lanes" in 1975 or Gospel with "Had A Lot Of Love Last Night" from 1972. Also pop songs as you know and some pure rock like "Heavy Breathing" or "Down The Road" from 1974 and "Bad Bad Dreams from 1972. There is also the soulful songs like "To Love Somebody" from 1967. And the later years they went into contempory pop with songs like "Wedding Day" (2001), "For Whom The Bell Tolls" (1993) or "My Lovers Prayer" (1997). This song however is pure R&B which is the genre where Robin's voice really comes to through. It is from 1976 from the "Children Of The World " Album, which were the first album where they really used the falsetto all the time. Main Course from 1975 was just the start up of this periode. You could say that this song stands out on the album because there is limited falsetto on it. Love So Right is another fantastic song from this album, and here it is full Barry falsetto all through the song.

This was never released as a Bee Gees single. The chart positions are for the Yvonne Elliman version which was a single. This was included in the 1979 Greatest Hits. Also included in that Greatest Hits was their version of If I Can't Have You and You Stepped into my life released as singles by Yvonne Elliman and Melba Moore respectively. Even though they were actually hits for other artists, they were put on that 1979 compilation. Also on that album was Our Love (Don't Through it all Away) which was only a hit single for Andy Gibb.

If I’m not mistaken, the Bee Gees version was not released as a single. The version that charted - including on the Ireland - was Yvonne Elliman’s. She also sang their song IF I CAN’T HAVE YOU for the SNF soundtrack, which was a #1 hit. I highly recommend that you react to her version of both songs. Even though I LOVE the Bee Gees version, Yvonne’s is my favorite. She has (at least) 3 great live performances for LOVE ME from 1976, 1977, and on AB American Bandstand.

What's typically Bee Gees? Don't know of that oneway-street. Falsettovoice in the bridge is Barry. But near at the end, also some lil falsetto from Robin to hear. Blessed singers, they are, just on the same, high level. Uniqueness included. Maybe you're willin' to check'em out with a song, they played live and unplugged on 'MTV Most Wanted', it's called 'Blue Island'.
@jaybrielakoi77473 жыл бұрын
So when I say typical I’m talking about my personal idea in my head which is like stayin alive. I know it’s not accurate to most but disco bee gees is The Bee Gees image in my head because that’s the only song I heard most of my life.

@@jaybrielakoi7747 Oh, thanx for answering, Jay. And ok, that's how you personally think about it and why not. You even reacted to the other periods of their career. I'm fan since 1967 and must say, imagine, beeing such an artist, which lifelong songwriting-work (1960 till nowon in case of Barry), to be in the end reduced to a short while from 1975 up to 1979. And they always had hits and many, many very good albums. But again, go your own way, I'll follow your reactions.

Thank you for reacting to my requested song. I really like your reactions because you pay attention to details and sort of analyse them. You are right that you can hear Barry on this song too. Barry really dominated Bee Gees between 1975 and 1979. In this time period Maurice did not sing lead on any songs and Robin only had the lead on a few songs. They also used the falsetto a lot in this time period. In all other time periods Bee Gees sounded a lot different and the twins were much more visible. Personally I love all time periods of Bee Gees equally.

Their friend and RSO stable mate Yvonne Elliman covered this and did a great job with it. and just p.s., Yvonne started as Eric Clapton's back up singer. She also played Mary Magdelane in the Broadway production and the movie of Jesus Christ Superstar. She also had big hits with Hello Stranger, and another Bee Gee's written tune, If I can't Have You. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ramrpaNnjt5snK8

the bee gees always created the best chorus's much like love so right , how deep is your love etc..that you could sing forever.. yvonne elliman's version hit #14 in 1976 returning in 1978 with another bee gees song if i cant have you which hit #1 fi you get a chance check out robin gibb's solo single called TOYS from is 1985 album walls have eyes. most of the songs were written by all 3 brother and barry is singing backup on toys.its a very strange song with barry singing i want to play with your toys . its worth a listen.so to my mind this was another bee gees album

This song is one of the few Robin leads during this era. Fellow RSO labelmate Yvonne Elliman had a decent sized hit with a cover of this song, which is probably why it was included on the "Greatest" album and also to give Robin a little presence on an otherwise Barry dominated double album. I would have preferred if Robin sung this without using the vibrato, similar to the straight delivery on "Holiday". He sounds really good in the chorus, though. Dennis Byron's strong is so full and rich - recorded much better than Colin Peterson's drumming from their 60's albums.
