Isn’t it strange and tragic how so many truly original talents ,with such a powerful presence have all died within what seems such a short time of each other . George Michael , Freddie Mercury, David Bowie , Prince , Michael Jackson , Whitney Houston Kurt Cobain and I know there are many more I’ve not mentioned . It seems too many have gone in what seems a close time that there is really a massive hole in original music . Like an entire generation lost as if a war took place on talent . I may not have been a fan of some but one can’t deny the impact they had that is gone . I never liked George Michael’s music ,growing up when he was in Wham didn’t really give me much cause ,being a bit of a cynical punk rocker , but when I heard his amazingly moving version of Roxanne recently and some of his more jazz classics and I was amazed how he sang a song so involvingly and made them his own .

As someone who has had a lot of singing training over the last 40 odd years, I can attest to thevfact that this is a difficult song to sing. There is difficult lyrical syncopation to attempt. George smashes it out of the park as he did live at the tribute concert. Brilliant!

I agree, the song seems easy to sing but it definitely is not. George Michael was a brilliant singer and musician ❤️

I like the way George adapts the line beginning "But everybody wants to put me down, they say I'm going crazy..." , singing it in a lower register.

Powerful pipes on George. Wow.

I have never seen this. Thanks for putting it up. There aren't any videos (as far as I know) on how George developed his voice from a teenager to this point. In terms of coaching etc. I know he did a lot of work on his singing for tours / performances over the years, from interviews at various ages. One of the best voices in the last 100 years.

George had a spectacular voice which improved with age.

Loved this. George Michael was underappreciated by me and many others in the 80s. Perhaps it was because he started as more of a pop singer. At any rate George was an amazing talent. Thank you Fil.

There's nothing wrong with good pop music. George was a great, iconic pop star and he never apologized for loving pop music. To dismiss someone for being a pop star as opposed to a rock star...well his performance proves that wrong.

George was an amazing singer and artist. One of the best I’ve ever seen live. I was not a big fan until seeing him perform live. I was lucky enough to be at the show where he was joined by Elton John for the diet which was filmed for the video. George was a true superstar performer. One of the best I’ve ever seen in person. He has a natural effortless style and Alesia put on a great show. RIP

You could do so many videos on George alone. He had such an amazing voice. Live in Rio he did Tonight that I love more than original. He also sang Careless Whisper and hit a long note that will take your breath away. Even Wake Me Up he hit a that high note. Kissing a Fool that deep note at the end. He had such a range. Still can’t believe he’s gone and we aren’t going to hear new music. I listen to him every day. Finally can smile instead of being only sad when I hear him. ❤😢

Hi Fil…Just today I was writing about both Freddie, and George! There was a question asked about three singers we would like to bring back…I said Freddie, Elvis and George! Thanks so much for remembering them too! ✌️

Thank you for choosing this rehearsal video. First time I've seen it. I appreciate your knowledge and hearing you dissect Brian's guitar 🎸 work. Henceforth to be known as Sir Dr Brian May! Keep em coming, Fil. I love every reaction you publish!!

George made this song his own, I’m sure Freddie would have been proud. I miss both of them very much, George was an incredible talent! So glad I got to see him live on his 25live tour ages ago 😢

What a brilliant gap filler! I love this video, seeing George really enjoy the music. The concert footage is one of my favourites. His connection with the audience is overwhelming. When the audience sing 'love' , with the wee dip as Freddie did and George and Brian's reaction to that, it makes me cry, every time.

More passion in a rehearsal than I’ve in seen in nearly any other live show I’ve seen. He was such a gift. He lived between the notes.

It was really fun watching you watch this. That little smile of appreciation that breaks out from time to time. I've probably watched his rehearsal 50 times, and I find myself grinning every time. George Michael had incredible musicality and he transmitted it so well. What a great, charismatic artist.

I always thought Bowie and Seal were watching this and hoping they weren't going to have to follow him on stage. Fantastic performance by the whole band.

Bowie didn't mind, he sang no Queensong, only Under Pressure and the original was also with his own voice.

That was probably the reason Bowie could really enjoy Georges performance and Seal was a statue frozen of anxiety 😄
