I’m 61.. and the Bee Gees for me were a subject of ridicule for your typical Led Zep and Deep Purple fan when I was growing up.. with their tight clothes, and high voices.. but time has made me see how great they really were, in terms of their ability in their performances .. and their importance in the whole scheme of things.. best of luck to you Barry, and long may you live buddy! 🤗

In 1977 I was in Manhattan on business and went to see “Saturday Night Fever” at a cinema only blocks from where the nightclub scenes were filmed. The opening scene of John Travolta walking down the sidewalk swinging his gallon of paint while one of the Bee Gee’s songs played is still firmly edged in my mind and heart. One of those magical moments you don’t realize are magical until you think back on them ….

That scene is immersive and in a certain way, by starting the film like this, it makes you want to see it in its entirety. I also have that scene recorded in my mind.

I was living in Northern Virginia , when the movie came out . The theater was crowded , thank goodness , they had 2 theaters with the same movies. To this day that same theater always crowded. In that region , everywhere is crowded 24/7.

I had the privilege of seeing the Bee Gees on my 18th birthday in 1977. I had just lost my Dad 6 months ago and the concert lifted my spirits more then they will ever know. I was so in love with Barry and he delivered pure perfection with his brothers. This is actually one of my favorite songs. ❤❤❤. What a great way to celebrate 18 trips around the world!!!. Love you Patty

@@olivas91 I went to that concert with my heart ripped into pieces. For the 3 hours they performed, I was transformed by seeing my idols. The grief took a back seat for those few hours. 1977 will always be the worst of times mixed with some of the best of times. The Bee Gees were certainly a highlight of such a devastating year. I'm 64 now and the memory of that night is still sweet and magical. ❤️😍❤️

This is NOT disco. Always my favorite Bee Gees track. The perfect use of Robin’s vibrato style. If this is really live, that’s commendable for 1975. Even the bridge is brilliant. I didn’t realize Maurice was the high vocal at the end.
@olivas9111 ай бұрын
In this song it was always Maurice who did the falsetto to support Barry who was singing the chorus. And you're right, this is an amazing song.

geoegeorr1042 - How old are you ? Were you alive when this song was new ? To say this isn't disco is just a far fetched saying , the '70 ' s were transitioning in to a disco sound and this is a fine example of it !

This is the song that introduced the Bee Gees (and eventually their fans) to Barry's famous falsetto that dominated the charts for some time after. Yet it's not a falsetto-dominated song, and here Barry seems to be letting his little brother Maurice handle the high parts (which he's doing rather well.)
