The Bee Gees, never better than when they were a 5 piece band. Colin Petersen the drummer was a child hood actor in some 1950's black and white English movies. In Australia he starred in a movie as "Smiley" along side movie great "Sir Ralph Richardson". He was also in the same class as Barry Gibb in high school Australia.

@@msigg2656 It may a surprise some but this is also Maurice on lead, though it is credited to Barry and Robin. In all likelihood, it was written by all three brothers. Maurice also did the high harmonies but he and Barry were the twins as far as vocals were concerned. They sounded quite a bit alike but I want to say the high falsetto is Maurice and not Barry. Barry was 19 or 20 and Maurice and Robin 17 when this song and all the other songs were recorded, so their singing voices and ranges were still in a state of flux, and it's quite possible both brothers could've hit some extremely high notes at that age.
@infinitecowboy32182 жыл бұрын
@@stevens5541 No as despite the songwriting credit, it's a song sung by Maurice, though he wasn't credited as a songwriter. I believe Maurice was wrongly uncredited on many songs on Bee Gees 1st, including their hits, which led to all songs from Horizontal to Odessa being credited to Barry, Robin and Maurice, except Such a Shame, which was Vince Melouney's tune on the album Idea (which replaced I've Gotta Get a Message to You on all copies of the album outside the US). Andrew Sandoval's book on the Bee Gees's recording sessions indicate all three brothers are singing lead. although I think Barry and Robin were only providing some very close harmonies. I hear parts of the song where it sounds like does sound like Barry and Maurice (parts of first verse and start of last verse) and then Maurice and Robin (start of second verse), but then switches off to being all Maurice solo vocals. For some reason, I don't think Robert Stigwood thought of Maurice as a good vocalist and maybe this was a fast one pulled by the brothers to give Maurice a track The brothers' albums would've been good albums to have released in 5.1 sound or 7.1 sound (whatever the last iteration in stereo recordings and equipment was) as their voices were so good and close, it was difficult to tell who was singing. (There's an acoustic performance of "Massachusetts" by the brothers where they are all singing the verses, just have to be heard to be believed.)

No, actually, it is Barry. He said so. He said that’s actually when he first sang a falsetto.
