In Nov., 1972 I met this cute guy at a bar. We dated, and I wanted to see him again. So I bought tickets to see The Bee Gees at the Passaic Theater in Passaic, NJ and asked him out. It was a wonderful date and ended up married in April, 1975. The band played "Words" and "To Love Somebody" for me. Next April will be 50 years married.

@BGWhisperer11 ай бұрын
It’s one of the things I like most about him. He seems respectful to everyone, no matter their station in life. He’s a good older brother, good husband, and father. He speaks well of fans. Many singers and celebrities treat fans as beneath them, and a necessary evil. Barry genuinely loves to share their music with the fans and loves to see them enjoying their songs. He generously gave his bros credit on songs even if they only contribute a word or two. He just seems to be a genuinely good guy. My husband, when I told him how generous he is with songwriting credits, said, no wonder the Bee Gees lasted so long, instead of people wanting to leave. I’ve seen singers with huge egos, and if Barry has one he disguises it well. If he’s a prima donna he disguises it well.

The other thing about Barry Gibb, he has that charm and stage presence in anything that he sings and wears on stage that is effortless. This man could come out performing in a hefty bag and I still would think he's sexy. Then all the fuss on the Saturday Night Fever album seems to overshadow all of the other great albums they put out before and after. The Bee Gees were so much more this one album. I wish critics would stop pigeonholing the Bee Gees as a Disco group. I like the fact that they can have funk, soul, R&B, soft rock and country songs all on one album. Examples of this are albums Main Course, Children of The World and Spirits Having Flown.

I didn't care then and I don't care now, music was real back in the day! The artists had ACTUAL talent, they played the instruments, wrote the lyrics, the music and performed with passion. I always get told that I am an old soul, and I have often day dreamed of living back in those days. I'm just in my 30s and I can't get enough of this classic music! 😍

I just turned 44 and was listening to this before and during high school. And my classmates always looked at me as strange, but yet they need to remember that acts like the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and the Bee Gees contributed alot to the music of the '80s and '90s. And I will rather listen to the older material, even including the "hair bands" (like Twisted Sister, Europe, even Gorky Park) before I will listen to those pathetic excuses of "Top 100 hits" they play today.

.....I was a fellow passenger along with the Bee Gees from Australia to England traveling aboard the Fairsky during 66/67 new year period. They performed on board and they were good, not sure if their performances were gratis or payment towards their voyage . Couple months later we were hearing them on the shortwave in Switzerland and saying ,,but that's them,, who would've guessed they'd actually make it so quickly . They had a store of stuff ready to release when they hit England so it seems . About that time many Brits were beginning to favour a type of mellow rock/folk style music like the Seekers, Peter Paul n Mary, Cliff Richard stuff...; it meant that some other good rock n roll bands in the style of Beatles n Stones weren't so popular any longer when landing in Britain by 68 .
