Redrum I don’t think they were necessarily “glory hounds”. Just quicker answering than Mo. He, however, did get overlooked quite too often as Barry and Robin usually sang leafs but it was Maurice that played more instruments, gave that high to the harmonies and his arrangements were phenomenal. He always said he was the one in the middle always mediating when the other two disagreed. He was an awesome power on his own and basically the glue that held them all together after the split when Robin came back. Barry was the sexy one, Robin was that wonderful vibrato singer but Mo is who ultimately made it all magic.

@Susan Hunter of course, I've never forgotten of Rob and Mo they've each made their brand as the Bee Gees. But as for me it was Barry's courage and being so optimistic. Remember Mo said in one of their interviews he said (just quoting what he said) "we were very young Robin and I were just 6 yrs old and Barry was 9 and he said one day we will be famous." As for me when I heard that that was already in his belief. When you say something it will come to pass. Robin leave the Bee Gees and tried started his own career. Mo didn't leave the band he said. So he and Barry continued...like the "Cucumber Castle" that was very good. Robin realized (I believed it) that he initiated to see and talk with Barry. And so they were together again. The song How Can You Mend a Broken Heart was a hit piece. Thank you, Susan for your replied. We may have different opinions but most importantly that we both agree that we are fans and love the Bee Gees. Lastly, I really don't see that Barry was controlling. I think he was so brilliant in all their decisions.
@mariekeung71872 жыл бұрын
No way was their success due to Barry only. They were a band and each one brought their own individual talents to the band. Individually, each were great but together, they were magnificent and unmatched. Their success was due to all three creating and harmonizing beautifully together.
@mariekeung71872 жыл бұрын
@Susan Hunter Absolutely! I give credit where credit is due and I have seen a few people comment elsewhere that it is all Barry. It isn't. He may have been the eldest and took charge when the twins were younger, but as they all became adults, they all were involved and each shared their talents to make the BGs what they were as a group. I have seen comments that Barry was the songwriter. Wrong! Barry himself said he and Robin wrote most of the songs, and also, Maurice to a lesser degree, but said Maurice was the "harmonist" and filled in certain melodies and harmonies where they should go. So each one contributed to the sounds and songs of this great group. No one is more important than the other. They were all important and their success were because of all three of them together.

Love where they talk about falsetto etc. In the 70s I loved the way black groups would use this singing and convey so much emotion. The same I loved the BGs for this, and what a job they did!

@katie-didellis24374 жыл бұрын
@@sassyd8738 it is difficult to explain. Their music, their interviews, their personalities just seem to touch something inside you. Their music etc just calms me. Somehow they emit love and our response is to love them back. Sometimes I step back and just say to myself these are three talented men period, but that is so much of an understatement. I'm getting very emotional and philosophical which is kind of silly when you think about it, but they transcend their music in so many ways. 💗 the Bee Gees.

Robin had such funny hair styles.
@dianeoliver90414 жыл бұрын
hrsnrnd10 Yes he did, never understood that. I thought he looked best when his hair was shorter, dark blond & when he had a beard; he was oh so good looking then. Loved them all with a beard, so sexy!!!!
@katie-didellis24374 жыл бұрын
I think he just couldn't handle the hair loss. Personally I like the one where he has about three different hair pieces that seem to show his hair growing from shorter to longer; towards the end of his life
@hrsnrnd104 жыл бұрын
@@katie-didellis2437 I agree ..it likely did bother him. He did sport a hairpiece later. It was not the perfect color if it had been, it would have looked really good. Funny when they settle for something sub-parr. He had the money to get an extremely good one. For years, I did not even know that Burt Reynolds, Wm Shatner or even Ted Dawson wore one. They were that good.

Andy`s death hit the brothers hard, but probably Maurice the hardest. He fell off the waggon and started binge drinking again, was even on the verge of distroying his marriage and could hardly cope with the grief. So he`s rightly trying to avoid singing „wish you were here“ on stage, as a measure of self-protection. At least, at that point.
@kthor25 күн бұрын
Andy's death was harder on no one more than Barry. After all, Barry was outvoted twice by the twins for Andy to join, both times when he was clean & sober. And Robin desecrated Andy's Memorial Song, Wish You Were Here, in '03.
@saphirzafiro777724 күн бұрын
@@kthor he didn`T "desecrate" the song, his version is also very beautiful, and he had the right to record, as he was one of the composers
@kthor24 күн бұрын
@ No, he didn't have the right. Not when it didn't come from Robin's heart. That's like saying Barry had the right to change the lyrics & re-record I Started a Joke, which he would've NEVER done. That's as sacred to Robin as Andy's Song was to Barry & Mo. Did you not read the article when Barry referred to Andy's Song as "a sacred piece", due to the impact it had when singing & recording it? Robin betrayed his brothers & did it behind their backs, which tells you he knew it was wrong.💔💔💔

@@saphirzafiro7777 You're exactly right, when Robin's fans won't admit to his immoral & deceptive behavior. Think that's why Barry's said there's lots he needs to forgive him for.

Maria EL He always did talking about Andys death. Then later after Robin and Maurice passed. It must be daunting being the oldest brother and only one left. Especially since Maurice’s death came out of nowhere. Fine one day and 4 days later gone. Barry and Robin were hell bent on suing the hospital but Mo’s wife didn’t want to sue. She said it was too of an American thing to do and settled out of court. The brothers had a tremendous case against the hospital and IMHO , I think they should have sued but went with her wishes. Very respectful men. RIP to the brothers gone too soon and sadly, deeply missed.

@Adrienne Gurge They were tired, irritated and agitated even.. it got too hard doing these promotional interviews, the three of them, this far on in their career, cause of their differences... the music meant different things to them, there was rivalry still over choices, singles, decisions... on the last album, This Is Where I Came In, they could only be solo artists, sort of.
@juantarctica5 жыл бұрын
@Adrienne Gurge In 2014 Barry gave a very personal interview to Rolling Stone in which he explains it all.. www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/barry-gibb-the-last-brother-236995/ All in all, it's very sad, he speaks of not talking to Robin for over a year later on, not being able to agree on anything, really. He wished there had been way more good times.
