My favourite thing about this song is the wonderfully over-the-top thunderclap/explosion noise, I love sound effects in music, but knowing that that was just Barry making the explosion noise with his mouth, rather than a stock noise... That just makes the whole thing ten times better. Love it, love the song, loved watching this.

I actually saw this show on tv when it first aired in 79. Still remember Barry making the explosion sound into the mike with his hands cupping his mouth around it. I was already a huge Bee Gees fan by then, and delighted beyond words by this footage. Back when it was so rare to get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of your idols, and you didn’t OD on them 24/7.

I just feel like I can never get enough of seeing any famous singers or groups recording their songs in a recording studio. I feel it makes me appreciate their songs even more. To me it's also just so fascinating to see the making of a song with the way the music artists and recording engineers work together. Thank you Tatiana Ishihara for posting this. I haven't seen it since I watched it when it was originally broadcast on tv. I still have an audio cassette recording I made of it from a small tape player placed in front of the tv speaker while the special was broadcast. I was glad to be able to remember being a younger :) fan watching it then, and now seeing it again brought back great memories. I attended the Spirits Having Flown concert and still have the tshirt I bought that night. Thanks!
