So many songs they recorded deserved a number one spot.
Their songs invoke emotions that no songwriters can match. I didn't realize they were teenagers when they experienced first fame. True legends!

Look for more info, the were singing before teenagers, the came to England, just after the War, and their dad could not fing a job. They had to sing in bars, for men, to help with money, they are simply the best!

When The Bee Gees came on the scene they were so good they did not have to destroy anyone or any sound. But because they were so good and they made disco so popular they and their sound had to be destroyed. We of the disco era will never forget The Brothers, their songs their sounds and ESPECIALLY their looksLove!!! They will be loved forever💔🧚♂️
@estelacobas44164 ай бұрын

I only really started following their life yourney, a few weeks ago, but is so hooked, I simply watch them every day now! The love, this Family have for one another, is what captivate me! They are believers, in God, and love is the spirit that took them along, even after they split up, love found them again, and kept them together, this is a sure, magic moment, and this is what everyone saw and heard in their lirics, as well as voices, and performances, love for one another! Myself, I have 5 sons, and 2 daughters, the 5 boys, in the middle, all borm within 10 years. At this point, I am struggling to keep the 5 boys, together. Similar happening to my kids, than the Bee Gees, only, a business 2 started, with talent, and the entire family joined, it lasted for 12 years, money and ego drove them apart, I am in the middle, but praying and believing, that a Mother's love, and with our God from above, love will in the end, bring them all together again! Long live the Bee Gees, until we meet again, in Heaven, I simply cannot wait!

I am paraphrasing here, but...When Barry asked what is grease? Stigwood said things like... "It was a time and a place and a feeling etc"...in describing what he meant. And Barry took it from there. 🙂👍

Luli Young ... The Beatles had some good stuff, but The Bee Gees wrote great songs and their vocals were far better than the Beatles. In addition, John Lennon was as arrogant as they get. George was my favorite of the group, but the Gibb brothers always seemed so down to earth and humble... even with their beautiful smiles and tight white pants🤪

Arif Mardin, according to the book _Hot Stuff: Disco and the Remaking of American Culture_, suggested the Bee Gees listen to more American R&B acts, such as Stevie Wonder, to gain more acceptance worldwide. That meant several of their songs from the 1975-79 period were inspired by others: "Jive Talkin'" - the stuttering of the first word of the title was inspired by David Bowie's "Changes." "Fanny (Be Tender with My Love)" - key change inspired by Hall & Oates' "She's Gone" "Stayin' Alive" - bass line inspired by Stevie Wonder's "Superstition" "Grease" (sung by Frankie Valli) - horns inspired by the Temptations' "Papa was a Rollin' Stone"
@gloriamaryhaywood22178 жыл бұрын
you couldn't be more right!..when I think about each of the songs you mentioned, and the music that inspired each one, well, it's so apparent!..but of course, the BeeGees also inspired a Lot of other artists with 'Their' music.!..like David Bowie stated "I've 'borrowed' a few ideas from quite a few artists over the years."lol.

"The whole world wanted to dance" per Maurice Gibb in this VH1 Legends (IV) I lived through this and remember Viet Nam. I think the dancing happened when the long war that invaded our living rooms on TV ended. Then Nixon left. You could get 12% on safe money in the bank. The country was finally happy again. Just my take on it.
@CaliCurmudgeon8 жыл бұрын
I would argue it was more escapism. The later 1970's were also wretched, with stagflation and decay. But you could only take so much doom and gloom, so we wanted to dance.
