This is a compilation of clips taken from a January 1985 recording of "Promises in the Dark," shown as a Million Dollar Movie on Philadelphia's WPVI, channel 6.
First there's a quick promo card for Wheel of Fortune, leading into the MDM open (I think it changed not too long after this, to the open which used the "Stunt Man" theme). A Merv Griffin promo is next, with Marilu Henner chatting, Helen O'Connell singing, and Gary Shandling quickly disappearing.
Some bump cards go by, then there's an abbreviated Florida tourism spot, only showing the snow-pelted kid with his eyeglasses frozen to his nose. They should have cut to a shot of some margaritas--get it? Frozen glasses? (But then it might seem to be implying that the kid will be drinking. Maybe I'd better leave this to the professionals.)
An Action News Chopper 6 promo features some awesome aerial photography of the city, and the announcer says it's "in the air and everywhere" (much like The Bugaloos). Local shop Kody Lighting in Wayne, Pennsylvania was wrapping up their January clearance sale.
The Valley Forge Addictions Program is still going strong, unlike "AM Philadelphia," the station's morning show then hosted by Lizabeth Starr and Wally Kennedy. The next episode was showcasing local comic Big Daddy Graham, who died very sadly last September.
