Blair Conklin, Kalani Robb and more charge heavy shorebreak wave in Southern California breaking right on the sand! These were some of the craziest backwash launches and wipeouts I have seen in a while! All footage filmed on January 2, 2020.

Easy, it’s only a few hundred bucks. Watch Surfline forecasts for a big south swell. Grab a flight into SNA. Call “YouGoSurf” or any other board rental outfit. When you land, request a ride-share big enough to pick up the board too. Get dropped off at The Wedge, at the end of Balboa Blvd in Newport Beach. Also, make sure your medical insurance is paid up, and have your records ready for Newport Urgent Care...

I’ve done it to someone before at Sebastian Inlet luckily it was one of the best skim waves of my life. Barely made it to the wave huge backside wrap and I won’t say I was completely barreled but I was definitely in the shade. the guy came in from the line up, I thought we were going to fight but he was like dude nice wave. my chick is so hot but I was definitely thinking about that wave that night

I miss that time in my life as a young Marine from Minnesota, stationed at MCAS El Toro. I lived at the wedge when I was not doing Marine shit. My favourite was when you timed it perfect and the backwash hit the incoming wave and shot you skyward. Great, now I want to go back to Newport and have a beer at the beachball.
