Thank you for your videos! I’ve learned so much from them. I could be wrong but the queen cell looked like it had something in it. Did you ever go back to check?

My eyes were right on it when I tore it open and it was bone dry. I notice the glare in the edit room, but believe me I had great eyes on it during the inspection.

@@beek Thank you so much for the reply. I appreciate your ability to read the bees and their frames. I hope to get to that point someday. This is my first year bee keeping. I caught a hive back in May and haven’t looked back. I’ve learned so much from your videos. For instance, many of the bee keepers in my are are starting to feed 2:1 sugar water. I like your method of feeding the bees 1:1 sugar water in the fall to create bees of winter physiology. It makes so much sense to me. I’m really hoping my bees make it through the winter! Thanks again!!

Do you put a robber screen on all your colonies during this time of year?

Thanks Dave for your work. Nothing but pearls! I have a question once again. Some are saying that I need to move frames between my two brood boxes. With brood in the top box and resources in the bottom. So that sounds like me doing the house keeping for my colony. Is this necessary? Thanks again.

I have learned so much from you, you are a great teacher thank you. I don’t know if this is right when it comes to shb. I have my hives above approximately 4 inches of rock river and pebble and at night after sunset I put grub ex down and the water it in so the chemical is not on surface. I have not had shb. for two years. I don’t have bees dead in-front of hive so watering chemical in is important. Do you see an issue with this?

hi David I am beekeeping in South Africa and it's currently spring. I caught a small swarm and left them in my 5 frame medium nuc box for a week. How do I get them to build out comb faster. Since there are pollination hives close by I also need to stop robber bees from the small hive.

Pumpkin spice is back at McDonald's. How I wish bees could make pumpkin spice honey without people adding things to the honey.

Hey David. Love your videos! What would robbing look like if it were happening? Tons of guestions. 😂

I have friend who I've known for a long time. I've made some mistakes as long ago as a few day ago that a reasonable person would say are completely idiotic. I step back and totally agree with that assessment. I'm feeding my bees with the 1 to 1 and he has been doing 2 to 1. I possibly checked his hives at night to see how his bees are doing. I clearly have far more bees than he has in his hives. I'm thinking i have too many bees.

David thanks again for another great learning experience. My daughter just had that problem on the weekend (we are a bit slow compared to you at checking through our hives) so will use what you taught us for sure, thank you 😀We are in Spring down here in Australia and as you properly know will now be having to deal with Varroa very sad about that. Can you please show us and demonstrate that grate you had in your smoker. Still have a bit of trouble keeping my smoker going even though I have watched your video on it. Oh how hard to you press on the bees when you run the cup down the frame to collect them? Love your caddy great idea. Francine

The Varroa Easy check by Veto-pharma is what I use when doing mite counts. It's the one with the orange top. You can gather the bees directly into the top of the container, dump them in, and secure the top. Very easy!

David you mentioned that you will start feeding the hive you inspected in this video. Will you place the feeder on top of the hive box which is full of honey? Will you feed while treating for mites? Thanks for sharing. Another very informative video. 😊

Thank you for walking through this. I like the burlap idea. I need to do this. Im in West TN. I want to do your steps that are not using chemical.

Hi everyone from NYC…Very good video.. like always… I noticed your concerns about the ventilation on that honey super.. that is a good tip to keep in mind… What about if you place the honey super sideway & cover with burlap sack that you can make it to fit the Super loose to avoid robbing.. & have good ventilation..

Having 3 deep boxes is too much room but having 2 deep and a super is OK? I just chose my best frames and went to two boxes. I have a 3rd box just for feeding. I have to hope some bees die because that hive has so many bees. I can't imagine they will all fit into two.

I have "forever" if I wanted to check my hives. There are so few other bees around that even if I left honey out in the open for two days, only a few scout bees would find it. At least that is what happened when I extracted honey for two days outside. On the 4th day, I finally did see maybe 20 bees and 10 wasps.
