Hi David. We are living in south west France. I would like to say thank you so much for being generally fantastic, all of the hard work sharing your knowledge and wisdom is honestly brilliant. We have 28 hectare small holding with heritage pigs, sheep, chickens, ducks and turkey's. We run a permaculture system with no chemicals or intensive land use. If you ever happen to in France you and family are welcome to come and stay. Keep up the great work and energy. Kind regards Jacob

Thanks David, one of the most simplified explanations of the Demaree Method I have seen. One quick comment ; you need to stress that your newly constructed Demaree hive occupies the same physical spot where the old (strong) hive existed. The new hive replaces the old hive, it doesn't go next to it or on a different hive stand. Of lesser importance, I've had old beeks tell me to NOT use brood frames for honey frames as it can impart an 'off taste' to the extracted honey. This is a human complaint, not a bee complaint; the honeybees will consume the honey just fine 🙂

I am a huge promoter of the Demaree method. It works, prevents swarms, increases honey production and it is possible to raise a second Queen in the top box (with an upper entrance and additional excluder). I believe in this so much, not only did I make a video of it but I give PowerPoint presentations to bee clubs in several states every year. I am so glad more people are being shown this method. As I say in my presentations "Not everyone wants to increase their apiary size with splits to prevent swarming". Good job David.

Aloha Dave, This method imitates many wild hives I have studied in Hawaii. Big difference? There is no winter in Hawaii below 8,000 feet but bees continue to prepare for winter and pack the honey in.

I needed this and need to make a second hive. Last year my other hive swarmed ... and lost the hive. ... because I didn't know what this video showed. I have two deeps, one full, checked last week and queen was in the bottom ... second deep loaded with resources... top medium is about three frames with resources.. I have two mediums that have backup honey as feed and can be extracted.

When you remove the queen sales and you don’t want to destroy them where do you put them? Are you separating them off the frame? Are you moving the entire frame? I love this I lost my very first hive to a swarm, and was not able to keep the swarm in the hive I provided for them, and the remaining bees without the queen, were never able to keep a queen, and I went through winter with only two frames of bees so learning more about swarms is a thumbs up for me
