First hive inspected - note: feed pollen ASAP and if you are lucky they might survive but may not thrive. That is a weak colony with only 2 frames coverage. Too soon for extra box. Think about grabbing one honey frame from another strong hive and adding it into the weak. They will need it Good luck!

We found awesome looking brood on 4 frames in our "nice hive" this week but the camera wasn't recording . We only got some clips of the bees activity in front of the hive. (uploading today) But we got a log full of bees last night from someone who called us to have it removed. We moved them into a deep hive box today. Video? .. Filled a 4GB memory card TWICE! It will take me a couple days to edit . How many colonies do you have in all Blake?

Quit pulling center frames out first. At 12min,that roar meant the queen was on the frame you took out,or was in top super. That 4 box high overwinter hive wasn't a good idea. I bet you were worried about wax moth so thought leaving them on the hive was a good idea. It isn't. Numbers go down and too much room to warm. Need to squish that hive back to a deep and medium. Beekeeping is like sex,you can have fun at it without being any good. Keep working on it.

I'm glad your bees are doing good, but I can't stand the sound. My Dad use to raise honey bees and just hearing them makes me itch.:)

When you put that in your smoker you are blowing poisonous gasses on your bees.
