G'day Maggie & Bart.:):) thank you. I'd probably tackle young bsfl while it is a light brown color if it was raised on something nice & clean. Some of the stuff I put in that bin is pretty smelly.

Hi George, I was going to use that bin as a worm farm initially, however I've changed my mind. I'm going to use it to recycle slumgum & retrieve all the shb larvae as well as bsf larvae for my daughters chooks. Then she'll give us some eggs. My system of harvesting the larvae is working out really well. I just have to fix the leaky roof. I notice last night the bsf larvae can crawl up the sides when there's moisture around. I'm just pleased that I don't have any shb larvae crawling out at the moment.

Hi Lajuun, I'm going to make a video of the chooks eating them just for you. I really appreciate your question because black soldier flies are not annoying or biting or anything bad. They do not spread disease like normal flies do because the adults don't eat food. They only live for a few days & their sole purpose is to mate & lay eggs near organic matter before dying.
