Is there any other minerals in the salt? Did you do any type of filtration process to remove unwanted minerals?

We do understand these birds feed off other birds eggs and young and are vicious predators?

Just came across this recipe. What a unique combination! I am going to try it now😊

Love this recipe, it’s a firm favourite of mine. I make huge batches, water bath the jars so it remains shelf stable and it keeps well for several years. I currently have approx 30kg of mangoes sitting on my kitchen table ready for the pot. I don’t know how much I’ll get to keep this year, I have a fan following of my cooking and a lot will get given away. The only change I make is the chilli content. I don’t use ghost chilli’s, but have used tepins, which to my weak palate are just as bad.

I watch the politics between my magpies and the crows and seagulls. Maggie's are generally the boss of the bird world, but they do need to squabble a bit with the crows and gulls.

G' Day Mate looks good. I am wanting to give it a crack but would prefer use Teaspoons/Tablespoons of Ginger and Turmeric. Any chance you could give me recommendation on measurements ? I reckon i've got the rest 👍Cheers, Rushy

We sure are. I have 2 or 3 currawongs that rock up pretty much daily now. Also 2 kookaburras and a few magpies. And a couple of crows which are hilarious garbage guts that take as much as they can in one beak and bail!

I’m still finding your videos so helpful! I hope you are both well. We have a very abundant paw paw tree and was glad to find this video. I’ve been making your crystallised ginger for years now, so I was extra glad to see this paw paw recipe uses it. Thank you again for your videos. Even though you haven’t posted a video on a few years, they continue to be very helpful. All the best 💕

The way to get just the pupae without coccons ist to freez the comb and than crushing it by rubbing it between your hands. Use isolated rubber gloves for example. Wax and coccons chips away but the solid frozen pupae stay intakt. Than you can sift out the pupae. You have to worke quick though or in a cold environment. I gave some deep fried and slightly salted to several persons - all were skeptical at the beginning but all confessed that they taste really good. I think the taste is like a mix of roasted peanuts and walnuts. You can use the drone combs which you are sometimes discarding anyway as a method to keep the varroa mites in check - this way you also get the biggest larvae/pupae - if you don't go after queen cells will say 😉.

The currawongs are down again from the Snowy Mountains which are about an hour or so south of here. They arrived here just before sunset, flying to and calling from the trees they frequent in our driveway and in our western windbreak. As Slim Dusty sang it, when they come down from the mountains the switch to cold weather is about a week away. I used to doubt their timing but they are spot on every year with this migration so I associate hearing their calls with heralding the imminent end of indian summer days and the beginning of equinoxial gales or foggy crisp autumn mornings.
