Not sure how therapeutic it is watching the bee brush in action. I think it is more a bee aggravator. At least my bees seem very aggravated when I use it.

Love It. I am a new novice bee keeper and what started me was a ferrell hive under a stack of wood in my back yard. But I can't get them to occupy the new super I have prepared for them.
@beek Жыл бұрын
Tell us everything about that super, like what kind of frames, what kind of foundation, plastic, wax, wax coated plastic, did you add wax, what month did you add it, how strong is your colony?
@pjones1403 Жыл бұрын
@beek it's an 8 frame "May Bee" Beehive kit. Wax coated super. I can post a pic of hive and bees in wood stack. I literally just put out the super I bought, put it out yesterday.

I was gifted a jar of buckwheat honey from Jarrett, he was at the convergence. I LOVE, let me say it again, LOVE dark honey. The rich flavor as compared to lighter honey is what I enjoy. That 2nd frame you pulled, oh I would love that. And now the wait til tomorrow. .

Hey Brian, yes, dark honey is always a winner in my book. Some people hate it.

I harvested ten frames of honey last weekend, of which about half were light golden honey and half looked very dark. Like you, I extracted the light and dark frames/regions separately. Bottled in clear glass jars. When held up to the light side by side the difference in color turned out to be negligible, and the taste is similar too. I'm convinced now that the wax was darker rather than the honey that was inside it, at least in this case. It was a lot of work to do separate extractions but was well worth it just for the learning experience. Thanks for making great informative videos!

We’re harvesting dark honey late in the season in NJ that is honeydew honey from the lantern flies

I hope you can show us some tricks for harvesting small batches of honey. I have a spinner for when I'm doing like 10 frames or more but it's not that easy when just harvesting 2 or 3 frames.

Hi it’s a great video.., I can wait until 2mrw… I bet it’s dark honey not a dark frame. I was wondering if you check all other frames to see if there should be more dark honey 🍯… about the metal screen it’s a great Idea I did it long time ago. But I cut it round to feed over the grill. On a few occasions sparks 🔥 used come out from the back. I had to go to wood shop & remove a hive… I didn’t want to take no chance with the spark, sawdust.. I like our brothe beekeepers Idea is doble protect at the back hole for spark to come out back fire.

I recently bought some local Texas honey from a small farm and was shocked how dark it is and what a strong flavor. I’m very curious what kind it is….is that even how it’s phrased? 🤷♀️ We live in a forest and our first yr here I never saw 1 honey bee. I bought 5 citrus trees that I keep in pots (zone 8b) and guess who came from the forest…the honeybees. We haven’t got a beekeeper anywhere close by that I’m aware of and I’m assuming they are in a tree somewhere close by. I’ve seen hives about 10 miles away. But for 7 yrs now I’ve had SO many honeybees that love my citrus and my basil! I’d love to have a hive but I’m not sure that I can manage it well.

David I always take the time in my honey to separate all the different flavors in my operation because my customers always come to me for different flavors. I do not know many people in my area that does that . This season I had four different flavors an it all will sale fast an I have a lot of people that will purchase around twenty to thirty bottles each an I hear all the time people say they had no idea there was different kinds of honey or flavors. Also my Creamed, chunk, comb honey I can not make it fast enough an my sales this season has more than tripled an I have people coming from three states away looking for my honey every year . If there are any Bee keepers that has the time to separate there honey out people Loves different kinds of honey let them taste the difference.

I harvest my frames with the bloom, when I see a bloom is finishing I harvest frames from the super but never pull the full super, that way I can isolate different Bloom and flavors of honey. The first part of the year was super bloom, super sweet white honey almost pure white, a very light yellow, the second Bloom was Sage, tons and tons of sage, then the buckwheat bloomed. I managed to get all different kinds by paying attention to what was blooming 😊
