Normally I use pine needles, but today I was out of them. So I tried your method, and very pleased with the results. I clamped a Douglas fir 2x4 in my vise, and using the power planer had a shopping bag full of shavings in a few minutes. Used some junk mail newspaper with petroleum jelly, and the smoker was lit and going in seconds. Compared to pine needles, the shavings burn faster, but otherwise are easier to handle than needles, which are sharp and go every which way when trying to fill the smoker. Thanks for the advice.

Good tips thanks, I use a wine bottle corks to stop the smoke you might have to reduce the diameter of the cork to make it fit, cheers...

I'm not so sure tape, petroleum jelly and cardboard are good to burn my friend. All of these have chemicals and petroleum byproducts. Myself, I use one half sheet of newspaper and 100% cotton jeans material for the fuel. Clean burning, won't spot up your smokers, no mess and less toxic. Keep the vids coming!

You can also get cheap wood shavings in the supermarket, just look for those wood shavings they sell for pet rodent cages. Same stuff you produced in the video, usually chemical free, damn cheap and a package will get you through several years.

I use pine needles but a couple of weeks ago it had been raining for several days and couldn't find any dry one around the yard to top off. Had a bag of Nacho chips in the truck so thru in a hand full of them. Smelled real good, don't know how the girls felt about it :)

Hi Jeff i am a novice bee keeper and have a question re The Queen Bee being out in the front of my hive being groomed by a handful of Bee's ?is that normal for this time of year i didn't have time to see what happened later if they swarmed or not they seemed to carry on as usual today ? I live in the Mid Nth Coast NSW

Try to make an electric smoker, I make them myself, very comfortable, greatly facilitate the work
