All I need apart from frames and boxes and my old school smoker, is a bee vacuum for collecting wild swarms. I have 5 boxes that are all from wild swarms and always healthy and very productive. A little more aggressive than imported honey bees, but totally bred for my climate. I live way down south in Victoria, Australia. winters are not too cold and it never snows here. I don't buy new things as my system works fine. After all, I learned the basics from your videos. Thank you very much for teaching me the basics.

I have seen many queens in packages and most are not great queens! I always requeen if I get one. No comparison to my queens! Due to the big homesteading movement many shops and suppliers have showed up. They see to current opportunity to market products to all the new beekeepers. But I have found most gadgets are just simply a way to get your money not how to better care for your bees. I believe you can effectively care for bees using the standard proven equipment that has proven best over the year. Whatever protection you want, a smoker, a hive tool, boxes, frames and bees of course is all you really need.

David GREAT VIDEO - my 2 beehives are winterized with 2" insulation board - sides and top. Fall weather in ORANGEVILLE NY is here to stay with 20 degrees overnight to maybe 50 degrees.

David, I have experienced having a beehive near several windmills and the hives never make it through the year. So, I don't have any hives near windmills any more. I have tried everything to help them.

Maybe it's the increase in plastic crap that is used today in the hive .

I’m new I checked on my bees and feed them sugar water and I noticed that there were some dead bees at the upper cover they looked like maybe they starved to death is that just a natural progression it’s been about 3 weeks since I’ve feed them last they got a sugar patty and gallon of sugar water then.

So people think moisture fall on bees if they don’t have a top vent that’s not true bees only have one entrance in the wild

David, don’t change a thing in your videos as they are very informative to both the layman and advanced beekeepers alike. Not all bee keepers will become bee scientists and look at nosema under a microscope, but bee biology is fundamental in becoming a good beekeeper.

NAHBE is one of the biggest scams IMO. It costs a fortune to attend so you can save 10% off overpriced bee equipment, and listen to a overpaid speaker who should be sharing their knowledge and experience for free, instead of charging an engagement fee. The bees benefit from well educated keepers, which is supposed to bee what it's all about anyway.
