Great little device. I’ve had mine since it was launched a year or so ago. I use it for navigation more than my Garmin. You can also import routes from Komoot etc and also select a fastest, balanced or quiet mode when selecting a route. Ideal for gravel riding and avoiding those busy A roads.

I really am taking a shine to it, looking to take it out tonight to test some more & I see @beeline has dropped the price for this Black Friday sale thingy to £85 -

Those wonky bar end plugs would drive me mental!! :)

Yep, me too! I had to keep on pushing them back in most rides, however It will come as no surprise that both bar end plug's have been lost on a ride. Good news is I can now justify replacing the bar tape and plugs to something a little more comfy :)

I borrowed one of these before i got my Garmin great little GPS and i still use the beeline software to plan routes because it's so much easier than planning routes on garmin connect.

I watched the Kickstarter for this some years ago but repeatedly postponed launch dates made me suspicious so I got myself a Bolt V2, a decision I have never regretted. I appreciate that Beeline's target demographic is those who want a low cost and minimal data device but the fact that it achieves this by being married to the rider's 'phone (no 'phone, no navigation) means it isn't for me. It is an aesthetically attractive looking device though.

Good info Rob, I remember seeing these two on the bikes on Dragons Den & first thought who rides tandems in out of a lift! I am away this weekend and will be taking this little device with me, my Karoo 2 will also be guiding! so will see how it pans out then.

Hi... Interested in this, and thanks for the review. A few questions if thats ok Has the limited waypoints issue been sorted - can you load a long/complex ride from Strava? Does it link to a Garmin Varia radar? Showing accuracy of junctions where there's only one way to go is fine - but how does it handle a complicated road junction? Glare - have you tried the unit in sunlight, as opposed to an overcast day? Can you pause and change/upload a new route mid ride? Appreciate your views if you have time... Chris

Good questions, I might do another video to answer/road test some of these later on. Can tell you though no link to Garmin Varia I've seen - that would be awesome, junctions ! well you take a wrong turn it will tell you, the display is a simplified route so 3rd exit on a roundabout will be clear to see same as some left/right a bit on then left right again. Waypoints if I understand it correct still does have a waypoint limit, just tried to import my JOGLE GPX into it and it failed! I think this is do to with the Mapping API calls so could still be limited to say 200 waypoint, but wager this is about cost for the mapping API software.

@@englishcyclist thanks for the super speedy reply Tom... Real life tests and reviews are so useful, as opposed to the marketeers Take care - and a 29kph review ride is going some lol

@@englishcyclist and just to add - having the extra battery life is a fantastic bonus, but this is let down by the waypoint issue. Does anyone aimlessly ride around for 6+ hours without having a route planned? And a 6 hour route will have plenty of waypoints... Hope this makes sense

12:55 can you tell me, would that be used in conjunction with a smartphone instead of using a bike computer?

Yes it uses the mobile via Bluetooth, the mobile app uploads the map to the device, can only assume it uses the mobile gps for location data and also works when out of mobile signal range as it’s GPS. I’m still on the fence with it but I think it’s a smashing little device that may well be useful. Also as it links to phone I’d like to think some future software update could enable cadence, power meter via Bluetooth on the phone end? But not yet.

Does it also work with openstreetmaps?

The app does not I think, it uses Google maps api for display. See my other beeline video on channel for more app screenshots and descriptions.

@@englishcyclist thanks alot. What I'm still questioning though is if Strava uses OSM routing? Because if Beeline uses Strava it might shill show the same maps and routing from OSM? ;)

Maps aren't downloaded to the device. It's just a dumb display and buttons. It's an extension of your smart phone. All the magic happens is in the app and your smart phone.
