Actually... his home was in West Allis, which is a suburb just west of Milwaukee. My Grandmother and her sister used to hang out with "Walter" and George. She had great stories of how much fun he was to be with. Walter introduced my grandparents to each other, which resulted in their first date.So in a way ...Liberace, is the reason that my dad (...then me) were born.

He played the Lovielest night of the Year my parents fav, had to play that several times a week for them on the organ. Funny 7 decades later and I remember this so well.

Even though that was a long time ago, I still have vivid memories of those shows, unlike the shows of many other performers I've seen over the years whose performances have tended to be forgettable. Liberace was an amazing, charismatic performer, the likes of which the world will probably never see again. His moniker "Mr. Showmanship" was truly well deserved!

I met Liberace in the Talk of the Town in London one night. He was having dinner with a colleague. I asked him for an autograph and he said later and he would find me in an audience of hundreds so I thought that was the last I would see of him. An hour later I saw him walking around the audience and he found me. He signed my wife's place card and we shook hands and had a short chat. It was like putting my hand in a vice. "Beer Barrel Polka", also known as "The Barrel Polka" and "Roll Out the Barrel", is a song which became popular worldwide during World War II. The music was composed by the Czech musician Jaromír Vejvoda in 1927.[1] Eduard Ingriš wrote the first arrangement of the piece, after Vejvoda came upon the melody and sought Ingriš's help in refining it. At that time, it was played without lyrics as "Modřanská polka" ("Polka of Modřany"). Its first text was written later (in 1934) by Václav Zeman - with the title "Škoda lásky"[2] ("Wasted Love"). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beer_Barrel_Polka
