Tonight at the Quick Speed Shop I'm in a bad way! The winter rat Chevy S10 has a big hole in the exhaust and I need to quiet it down fast. Beer cans and muffler tape to the rescue! This ain't no South Main Auto repair. Please like, share, and subscribe. I put out new videos every Wednesday and Saturday.
Update: Beer cans and tape only lasted 2 weeks on the head pipe on my mighty S10. I had to break down and buy a piece of pipe and replace the rotted section of pipe. Just FYI, the tape MAY work on the rear of an exhaust where the temps are cooler, but it doesn't last up front.

Very clever, this is the idea I had in mind. Great to see you put in to action & it working! I'll be trying this method tomorrow morning while the pipes are cool from not running the engine. Thank You!

It actually failed about 2 weeks after the video. Both beer cans burned thru as well as the tape. I had to cut the 90 degree part of pipe out and weld in a new elbow. It's good now.

Haha I done this on a honda prelude about 15 years ago! I put high temp gasket makers on the beer cans then wrapped it with exhaust tape, the car has passed hands about 15 times since then but im pretty sure its still holding up! 😂

*To be honest, this was a fantastic job. That will last at least for a year or 2. Who cares? It's an old truck. I would've used a grinder with a wire wheel to quickly clean the surface though. Just so the tape adhesive has a better chance of sticking. But still, awesome job!!*

@@QuickSpeedShop really because I did a similar repair with a beer can too and it's been over 2 years and it's been good and that was a completely separated pipe. I know I could of probably put a coupling but I had muffler patch products on the shelf I knew I was never going to use and I just through em all on there but been the pipe and the beer can I used muffler cement that's y mine lasted. Lol it was sopost to be a temporary fix that wasn't sopost to even last more than a week or so and ended up forgetting about it till I so your video and now I'm not playing to fix it till it breaks. @@QuickSpeedShop I think it was a great job you did because I did it too very similar with a beer can and it was sopost to be a temporary thing till I got around it to fix it properly and it's been on there for over 2 years and it's a daily driver. Maybe it's not the right way to fix it but it's a definitely a durable patch job that It surprisingly holds up for a long time.
