I loved this Podcast. My Mother was only a Lieutenant when she was posted in Pathankot during the 90s when it used to be a hot bed of terrorism. It was her very 1st posting. I am always amused by how casually she sometimes brings up the things she has seen while she was there. Its terrifying. I hear from her too about Pathankot being much more safe, just like J&K now. The Indian armed forces has systematically reduced militancy. So proud to say that I am a daughter of an Army officer, and that too a lady officer from way back in the day.

@@debodatta7398 North Indians used to ridicule Tamils as cowards, rice eaters, no ggod. Vietnanese we're rice eaters small framed. You know they defeated 3 super powers US, China, French all sitting in security council even today. LTTE was acknowledged as world's most created guerilla army. They were defeated by 17 national army and its Governments including North Indian Government. Actually Tamils were betrayed by north Indian politicians. Even today our government betrays Tamil of Lanka. Genocide of 100,000 killed. Lankan war lasted from 1956 to 1990. 800,000 left Sri Lanka. The war is not over. One day Tamils will avenge the genocide. Raja pakshe hid kn naval ship. Study about the war between Tutsi and Hutu in the genocide in Rwanda. Tamils will rule. Traitors are North Indian politicians Criminals are Sinhala Buddhists, Elites. Teach the North Indians the true history. Remember Tamils were the only people who defeated Indian Army. Remember Cholas, Pandyas defeated Indo China by just marine/ naval power. Asoka could not conque Tamils. Read about Velu NaChiar and kuyili. The latter was the first suicide female bomber in the history against British. They were first sepoy mutiny/ Vellore mutiny. Fir we're by Tamilst wars known as poligar wars and Arcot wars. against British. Ask him who is the best modern general. It was General Sundarji a Tamil general. Even Manek shaw will not qualify as he had prepared for months for Bangladesh war. Remember Indian Army is the best like Vietnamese. But Tamils kicked the ass of Indian Army. They just know root causes of what they are dealing with. Their should be proper utilisation of these diamonds. I was a little boy when the IPKF came to my hometown of Valvettithurai (birth place of Prabaharan) and would hand us food. We thought of them as heroes who had come to end the war. Then when they betrayed and attempt to hand over Kumarppa,Pulanderan and the 10 commanders of the LTTE to the Sinhalese army (they all suicided using cyanide) we knew the IPKF was going to be pulverized. None of that matters, at the end we lost it all, and the last time I visited the North was 40 years behind in comparison the south. My people have a lot of catching up to do. Man it seems like ,army especially special forces is a whole lot of different world ,it's different zone different from the obvious real world were you look at problems and situations from life and death perspectives , its surely can be categorized as life apart from what you usually do for a living ,the so-called the happy family life .The standards are different ,in a more concise way you breathe differently , you are out and out of your comfort zone for most part of your living . You don't drain your energy in petty politics and do the job what is required and that in turns creates solid memory of what you have done in your life , obviously it has its own enlisted cons to it , but its subjective and personal at the same time . Man it must be a feeling to look back and see that you have served in the jungles of Sri lanka , took out enemies ,did what ordinary peeps could only think of ,it truly a feeling of proud with no regrets whatsoever . Thank you Ranveer bhaiya , i came in as highly enthusiastic seeking every millitary episodes of yours and now after 1 hour and quarter writing this bullshit to got a new perspectives to life . Thanks a lot .

These 100 000 soldiers consistently lost and were beaten back and humiliated by less than 10 000 strong sri lankan tamil rebel groups. it was an international shame for India's military at the time, foreign press reported it as India's Vietnam despite have over 10x the soldiers +huge supply lines running from India and from Sri lankan government in south the IPKF did nothing but attack and harass Sri lankan tamil civilians which lead to rebel groups kicking them out of areas. This failure and humiliation to IPKF lead to huge reform in India's military resulting in the much stronger and competent and respected force we have today. Ranveer, I discovered your interview series a couple of days back and I'm totally hooked! You, my friend truly have a gift to unpeel layers in these interviews and that too from such war-hardened warriors fighting for our country. Be it a shallow self-obsessed movie star or true heros like Para's or political commentators, you navigate people like a naval officer would navigate uncharted waters. For a 31-year-old guy who left India for the US for professional growth, you remind us all how rich and vibrant our country is. Good luck and keep smashing. Jai Hind!

I was in kashmir from 1992 till 2007. Not only special forces which did such kind of operations but even a force like BSF did such kind of operations. My father was part of G branch operated in areas of Pulwama and every town of kashmir valley.
