i think what i get from dave, that i don’t get from a lot of other artists, is listening to dave you feel like you’re getting the experience of an entire person. a lot of rappers are very much “i do this and if you don’t like it, then you won’t like me” but dave isn’t confined to anything specific, and i truly believe if he was in america he would be the biggest out. there just isn’t much translation across the pond and it’s a shame.

To see where this all began you need to watch Dave’s Blackbox Freestyle he was 16yo and I can assure you he was just as fire back then

His father was deported back to Nigeria when he was a baby & both his older brothers went to jail, one is still in there for being involved in a school fight which ended in a knife murder. His Mother held down several jobs to survive, bought Dave a piano & a dictionary to keep him away from any outside influences. Dave is a genius, no doubt about it. Imagine being able to write & perform that at just 19 yrs old! America hasn't fully opened up on the media front to him, in fact to any of our rappers who have incredible pens & music skills - its an interesting discussion as to why when they have to other genres. I think you guys need to check out North London's Little Simz too, her last album 'Sometimes I Might Be Introvert' is a masterpiece - her track 'I Love You, I Hate You' about her absent father is incredible & 'Introvert' is exceptional!!! She also stars in Top Boy, like Dave, acting talent to boot! Great channel - subbed. Peace up from London.
