The DNB scene is a very close scene so all these mc’s are performing at roughly 3/4 clubs a week most weeks so they all mc with each other regularly The dj’s usually mix a beat for it to drop on the mix so mc’s can usually hear the tune being mixed in so they are ready for the drop. As I said these guys perform multiple shows each week so they’ve mastered it Eksman is a veteran over 20 years of killing it and has always been a favourite of mine, his son J Mulla has started smacking up raves Skibadee has been here since the 90’s when mc’in over jungle music (early era of dnb) with Stevie Hyper D who passed in the late 90’s, skibba has also passed in recent years and I believe this was because of his sickle cell 😢 Harry Shotta is from the same town as me and done quite a few sets with him in the past (15 years ago now) he come into dnb in the early 2000’s and was part of UNCZ with Skibadee, funsta and Dreps Azza & Grima they started making it big about 7/8 years ago and have been about for about 10 years now and are called TNA (the new age) Dreps is great and has an original Flow, he was a proper road man and not one to be messed with he’s been about since early 2000’s Drum and bass isn’t really about tracks (songs recorded in the studio) but they’ve started doing it more in recent years, it’s all about life performances, dj’s mixing beats and the mc’s spitting over them Dnb raves go on every weekend and they get recorded - 1 hour sets a Dj or two and a few mc’s just having it in the club and they usually run from 10-4/6am with loads of dj’s and mc’s passing through all night It’s more about the live performances than anything!

To your question on do the MCs know the beat is about to switch up (18:40), yes, they know. DNB tunes have natural transition points and the MCs are constantly listening for it. They also know most if not all of these tracks by heart. If you listen carefully at 18:20 you can hear the snare of the next track mixing in, so in this case, Eksman knows he has to wrap it up and Harry knows he's about to be up. This particular type of mixing, meant for MCs, has very few low points too, so they know the transition will roll straight into a beat drop.

So mcs and lyricist jumped on the jungle scene, and over years Uk garage was born, which had mcs, then after that came crime, which produced mcs like dizzy rascal, and Kano. And many others. I'm from the UK and can safely say that harry shotta was the first person to beat Eminems rap god for the most amount of lyrics in a song

I’d love to see a reaction to a big rave like Westfest where all these MC’s are live. Definitely something to consider reaction to, don’t think I’ve seen any reaction to an actual rave. 👌🏼🔥

Watching your reactions to the way dnb mcs ride the vibe is insane these are literally the best lyricists that England has to offer in my opinion the tunes being mixed in you kinda hear coming so shotta eks and skibs are real dons they got bars made for certain beats and theyre professional they set each other up for drops and know each others best attributes

So happy you've reacted to this. Probably the most underrated FITB.

Shelleys and introspective OG here... Great to see our brothers across the pond lend an ear to whats probably one of the most seminal sets in D&B... Much love 🤪

You wanna see DnB MCs that know each others lyrics inside out... Check out the ragga twins
@samsapper2658 Жыл бұрын
D&B or even old school hardcore in the UK always had MCs live over the tracks. They are with each other every weekend putting their lyrics down on different DJs beats so they usually know each others best bits. If you ever check out Uprising from as far back as the 90s it was similar.
