Very helpful video, Matthew. Much like the previous comment, I would like to see more videos about how to FOLLOW a recipe from BeerSmith. There are a lot of videos about how to create a recipe, but not much for translating a recipe step to what is actually means. I have a little difficulty understanding what the "Brew Steps" print out is telling me to do exactly. I don't mean a "how to brew" video, just ab quick explanation of the Brew Steps page. -Thanks!

Great video. I noticed there is no water profile for RO water, so you know where I could find that? I'm also wondering how to save my recipes to the cloud.
@TroubleBrewing2 жыл бұрын
Hey Ryan. For simplicity sake I would just treat RO water as Distilled. RO does remove pretty much everything but alot of companies to add back some minerals to the water. I buy all my water from a water supplier and I asked what they add and they gave me some really old writeup from like 10 years ago. Its usually such a small amount though I would not stress out about it, just used the distilled profile and call it done. Regarding saving recipes to the cloud, in the cloud section you will have to sign in. Once you signed in you can simply just copy and paste recipes into the cloud tab.

Do you think it's worth getting the platinum subscription over the gold? What about the mobile version do you have to buy that separate? Is it worth it or can you just use the website on your phone when you're away from your desktop?

I think I just have the gold subscription (I think its like 15$ a year or something?) and that works for me, as far as mobile I would never use it personally but im never a few feet away from a desktop myself so thats just my opinion.

Thanks for this but I had Beersmith open the whole time watching your vid and got lost sooner than Robert Frost in a wooded bifurcation. So many questions. For ex - where on the Clawhammer website did you find all of the specs to enter into Beersmith? Also where can I find the water amount on a no sparge ale? Thanks much!!

For the clawhammer profile just google it - "beersmith clawhammerbiab" it should take you to their site with a download link. For the water volume you should see the volume on the top left corner of the water page after clicking the water tab.

Hi Matt. I am a totally new brewer and need to learn everything. I think this looks like a very good tool even if I dont understand everything. I am from europe and would like to use SI-units ( litres instead of gallons etc). Is it possible to change that?

Hey Matt, I enjoyed the video. I am pretty new to brewing and to Beer Smith3. If I pull up an established recipe, I have a hard time understanding what the recipe is trying to tell me. for instance, What does it mean when it says partial mash? Is that the same as steeping specialty grains? When looking at a partial mash recipe, i see grains and mash profile/steps. Am I to assume that there is indeed a mash going on? and if so why is it called a partial mash? Anything you can provide to clear up the concept of the partial mash would be great! Thanks.
@TroubleBrewing3 жыл бұрын
Hey Bill, so partial mashes typically mean that you are using grains and extract (DME or LME). So the "partial mash" step would be your steeping step if you are doing extract. Alot of extract recipes have specialty grains in them and you get those sugars from partial mashes instead of getting them from extract since its such a low percentage of the bill. Let me know if you have any more questions there.

When I try to install the add ons for Breiss Malts (88 grains), it says error: Could not download/parse this add on for installation. Everything else i can add or delete with no problem except for the Breiss Malts. Have you ever seen this and how can I fix this? Thanks
@TroubleBrewing3 жыл бұрын
Hey! I have not seen this. Only thing I can think of is run Beersmith3 as an administrator and try the addon install again?
