I have noticed bees nesting in a bird box i put up on our farm last year, I am happy for them to carry on what they are doing and often watch there activity around the bird box, I could see some of the nesting hanging outside the bird box and doing a google search and the type of nesting used i think it is the Carder bumble bees.

I guess it's quite a good choice for a swarm, albeit a little cramped. Thanks for sharing.

You have made a small log hive. How are they now?

i had this earlier this year after i moved a swarm from my garden and some bees didn't make it back so they went in a small empty bird box after 2 days i moved them to where i moved the swarm and they took to it straight away

Hi Phil, I’ve just read your book Building A Top Bar Hive and I intend to build my first hive in readiness for next year (and hopefully get a nuc). Anyway, I’ve just found you online and I’ve watched a few videos and I’m enjoying them thank you; but I was looking for more information about too bar comb guides. Do you have a video that explains comb guide construction and uses?

Brilliant thinking!! I’m assuming the guy doesn’t want his nest box back??

Luckily, no!

So why don’t you transfer the bees into a proper bee hive. ? You can cut the comb out put each one in a frame holding the comb in them with rubber bands, the bees will do the rest. Just curious thanks.

I know I could, but I chose to do it this way.

@@BarefootBeekeeper If it is a relatively new swarm the comb will be very soft I have done it but that plus elastic bands isn't the best combination.
