As a younger man Beethoven was said to be able able to move his listeners to tears by his improvisations at the piano. And he would scoff and laugh at them for doing so. Many years later when he wrote this movement, however, he said he could hardly think of it without bringing himself to tears. It’s clear to see why after listening to a beautiful performance such as this one.

comment based on "immortal beloved"? I believe we are hearing this piece when he says "the comedy is over" on the movie. There are at least two decades I saw it. Im quite sure about this piece. All the best, friend.
