Yeah yeah, I'm only talking about the first section BUT...let's be real, that's the one that made this an ICON. Was this pop music of its time? Did people roll their eyes and say Beethoven only knew how to write 4 chord pop songs?

NO you can't just talk about the first part, that's stupid. THERE ARE MORE THAN 4 CHORDS

So many pianists don't play the first two notes as the pickup that they are, but it does change the emphasis slightly. It's like the famous opening of Beethoven's 5th symphony. The first three notes are technically a pickup to the first downbeat (and-two-and), but so many interpret it with the first eighths as a strong beat (one-and-a TWO), but it's not.

Fun fact about this song: Beethoven wrote this for his love Elise, which was one of his students back then; and her ability to play the piano wasn’t that good. So beethoven wrote the first part of this song to be easy, but when he found out Elise had a fiancé he got angry and sad so he decided to write the second part of the song in a harder manner so Elise wouldn’t be able to play the song fully!

I'm so happy you started this new channel! I hope it does well. Love your enthusiasm (as per usual). As for Für Elise, I always liked the version that he worked on 12 years later. And again, I find it funny that Beet didn't want this published (the same as Chopin didn't want Fantaisie-Impromptu published, and they are their most beloved pieces by many).

Again- Thank you for these types of videos, they go a long way to help people like myself develop a deeper understanding of multiple aspects of music at once. And it’s presented with a fun, joyful attitude :)

Fur Elise is one of my all time favorites. I’m a sucker for minor keys. Also did anyone else know that this was apparently made for Beethoven’s girlfriend, hence why it’s called Fur Elise, it literally means “For Elise.”

I recall rumors, that intro lick spelled out the name Elise (Elese) via note names in German, with maybe an Italian note: E - mi bimoL - E - es - E.

I love that you talked about the pickup! Exactly my reaction when I first noticed it. (I've heard serious classical musicians analyze this as a notation mistake and claim that Beethoven should have actually written a bar of 4/8 here.)

I honestly hate this piece sm 😂 I used to love it as a kid, then I became a pianist and learned it at some point (hobbyst pianist now). It annoyed me so much when people asked if I knew it because yeah, I did, learned it years ago, I play so much more interesting pieces, and it's not even a very difficult piece (it's honestly a hard piece to make sound good because of how popular it is). You could tell who genuinely wanted to chat with you and who was being pedantic or not believing you when you said you played piano. Almost like guys saying "oh you like rock?? Name 3 bands" or something. Ugh... Maybe I hate it because of that association I have with it, idk 😅 But thank you for shining some light for the piece with this video. I do think I appreciate it more now. Still not a favourite but maybe when I hear it played by someone I will actually enjoy it 💖

I was getting bored of practicing Für Elise over and over again, so I discovered this jazz arrangement by Bethany Brinton. She gave it her own twist which made it very groovy and fun to play. youtu.be/3N2mBh5Um

Bro, it is so cool you talked about it, but this is not a beginner piece. Sadly, that mentality won’t help great music to be played correctly. 1 is in Rondo form You never tacked the other sections. 2 you, yourself found the piece different after playing it in the right rhythm. Not an easy piece. 3 section C and D have even more harmony and melody. Section C is the most challenging! Definitely not for a beginner. Perhaps your version is incomplete…? This section has a feeling of a chord” with a melody stacked on top of it. The Alberti bass is simple broken chords. So, yeah. The concept of stacking a melody on chords was already a thing. Mozart used it (French concertos, the magic flute and other opera arias, Mendelssohn use it a lot!! etc.) that actually became a style once the baroque period ended and the classical one started. So, yes, it is a concept in “classical” (academic) music.

To be quite frank, I love your breakdown. But, this is a beginner piece big dawg. "Beginner Piece" implies being able to learn the song at a base level fairly easy, even if its only partial. With that being said, of course any "beginner" piece can be played more intricately by someone more advanced. Most common folk don't even know about the latter sections of the song, which is totally fine by the way. Lastly, I feel like you just wanted to flex your music knowledge 🤣🤣. I totally get it.

Does it have to be played perfectly correctly? It's music, people can do whatever they want with it and it's all valid. Would you be upset at a beginner cook for trying a simpler recipe for a complex dish, because they aren't making it "correctly"?
@ulyseslozano5389
@ulyseslozano5389 7 ай бұрын
@@BlazertronGames You are missing the point. Any attempt to play any music is decision of the player, regardless of his/her level. If any of my students want to play a piece, is my obligation as pedagogue to guide this student to success. If a player I don’t know wants to mediocrely learn or play, there is no need to get upset, that his/her decision, I simply don’t care. I’m pretty sure lots of people either.

It isn't like first year beginner piece but it is a beginner piece. Yes even the other sections... I played it as a beginner when I was learning. Kids play it as beginners.
