Thomas: I’ve written a clarinet concerto, too! This sonata does really lend itself to be the clarinet concerto that Beethoven meant to write. Your treatment is much gentler than mine. The introduction is superb. Lovely blended colours throughout. The textures and dynamics could be varied a little more (to highlight the soloist) but overall, the balance is beautifully achieved.

Really an enjoyable listen!! Love the clarinet soloist; such a delicate and soothing sound! I like that the strings never overpower or take away that delicate nature. And the dynamics were very tastefully done! Great, one of my favorites so far!

What a great score. It really sounds as if it was never intended anyway else than a clarinet concerto. It's the clarinet concerto Beethoven never wrote, to everybody's chagrin. All the figuration suddenly makes sense as playful clarinet virtuosity, and, amazingly, it happens to turn out quite idiomatic for the instrument, as far as I can tell. A detail I can very much appreciate: you give the soloist time to breathe, but somehow nobody will notice that the 16ths are interrupted. The listener's ear will lazily substitute the missing notes (well, I may know the piece by now). This is great mastery. Aw, why did it stop so soon? I'd love to hear the rest of the piece.
