Thank you Andras Schiff. For giving us what Beethoven wrote. Authentic. Love you for this adherence to score and clarity.. The warm blanket of coda to first movement, the ascent at the end of the second. Glory.
Phénoménal! Sensible et déchirant, qualité de son extraordinaire, l'émotion dans chaque note. Arrau Yura Guller et lui, les autres loin derrière. Un Beethoven immense.

I believe that any musician playing these three sonatas the way that Sir András Schiff does, must surely have more than a glimpse into Beethoven’s soul and brain. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Wonderful, as always. Thank you for the upload. Have listened to this Schiff performance of the No. 32 many times, and love it more with each hearing. Love the BWV 870 even more, if that’s possible. Watching András Schiff’s fingers weave Bach’s contrapuntal magic is beyond mere enjoyment.

What is "hardcore" here? Curious what you mean.
@NickRaa2 жыл бұрын
@@prometheusrex1 I mean he plays with such intensity. He’s made the piece his own and sounds to me like he really means it when he plays it…with the hardcore spirit of Ludwig himself. Hardcore being the heaviest version of a thing. Jimi hendrix is an example of hardcore…but I’ve yet to find a more hardcore expression of music than from Beethoven….Death metal can try to sound hardcore but just playing loud isn’t enough to achieve this….harmonic fluency is required to find the true expression of all the sophistications of emotion…and the performer is required to be emotionally open and able to express his anger and love and hate and confusion and tenderness….and the facility of Andras here to not hold back in any direction of emotion is hardcore but particularly the hints of rage in this piece he has the strength and openness to achieve this….for me the effect is massive and profound. And it seems to me tragically sad that Beethoven was unable to hear this recording from Andras or any other…despite the unfairness we’re all so very privileged.

@@prometheusrex1 another great example of a hardcore version of a recording is Carlos Klieber’s Beethoven 5th symphony….outstanding

@Nick Nova Right on brother. Consider this quote from Daniel Barenboim: "this is the essence of Beethoven--that it does not shy away from the extremes, and it does not look for a synthesis that is made up through a reduction of the different elements."

A good performance, despite a serious execution fumbling at around 24':56". Yet, Mr. Schiff let it be posted, warts and all. Perhaps, he meant to tell us:"Hey, no big deal, it can happen to the best of us".
@quaver12393 жыл бұрын
Michele Pisa : Sir András Schiff has very strong opinions, but is not vain. And, give him credit please: He had just played Opus109, 110, 111 in succession at the same concert. And with great Beethovenian spirit - which is what’s required in a great musician. He was simply a rather tired human being at the end of no.32. And the “serious execution fumbling”.... well, it wasn’t so “serious”, was it? A masterful performance of all 3 sonatas - plus Bach.
@highpeaksphil3 жыл бұрын
To play Beethoven last three sonatas all on the same program, I do that in practice for pleasure, but the chances of no split notes or fumbles is very slim indeed. Marvellous performance

Very poor performance. I heard him in his lecture video on this sonata complain about pianists playing the second movement so slowly one could eat breakfast lunch and dinner and the pianist still playing the movement. WELL, his tempo of the second movement is horrendously slow so there goes his argument against a slow tempo…..
